Things have been going poorly for my terrifying blizzard settlers. First, attacks from the various freezing lifeforms killed 2 and wounded 2. One of the wounded went crazy after no water could be found and murdered his neighbour. His neighbour was the husband of another dwarf who fell into melancholy and died. Anyways, so I had two dwarves left who pretty much lived in fear of everything on the glacier. When a polar bear arrived and began drinking from the wagon (as I only had two dwarves I didn't have the manpower to carry my food into our shelter) I was upset but figured in a bit he would go away. He didn't. He drank EVERY SINGLE DRINK. When I embark, I don't bring an anvil; I bring plenty of booze. I bring, in fact, 61 of each kind of alcohol. This polar bear must have drank over 200 drinks during his time at my fort. Anyways, one dwarf tried to fight the bear and was killed and the other, terrified, went crazy from the loss of a friend and thirst. I never knew a bear could drink so much so fast.

You settled on a meteorological event?  I'm going to go strike the earth on a hurricane.

All...that aside, I can't wait for drunkenness to have an actual effect.  Particularly if, when you looked at a specific creature, it would specify how they act when they are drunk.

Yeah, it's awesome how quickly gnomes and bears can guzzle down drinks.

Haha I was a bit vague; I'm actually on a glacier and we're experiencing what seems to be nearly non-stop blizzards. The 2nd and 3rd reclaims have pretty much all gone mad and been eaten by zombie fish. Let's hope the 4th are a bit stronger.

That polar bear probably had months of dizziness and hangovers.

You can rest knowing he died of liver failure.

The fourth reclaim and oh what a reclaim. Alcohol, as always, dominates the adventures. Our stocks lasted over a year. We didn't set up our farms until later as we needed to irrigate and this wasn't really a priority at the time. The desalination plant was also something we worked on but the first and second ones both failed and I was taking my time with the third. As I had not yet picked a dedicated clerk my stocks were not helpful. Suddenly, I realized we had thirsty people everywhere. I rushed to irrigate the farms and plant the plump helmets while others rush to get the plant up and running. Dwarves fall as they work; dead dwarves lay on the farms, on top of the pumps where they died pumping, dead within the plant as they installed corkscrews. I'm playing with the LL mod so plump helmets take I believe longer to grow. Anyways, when they finally came out we had 10 of the 30 left and it was a race to the brewery to get that plump helmet brewed before the clerk I had asked to be a brewer died. The barrel of dwarven wine came late; too late for oh so many. By the time the survivng dwarves made it to the still to grab their drinks, 3 more had died. Only 7 remain and they are furious.

Moral: GET THOSE DRINKS UP AND RUNNING ON YOUR TERRIFYING GLACIERS

So basically we should make fortresses on Glaciers for pure concentrated fun?
