And the siege on Kvatch is way cooler at high levels.  The high level daedra way outclass the soldiers, and it turns into a massacre.

Well I managed to finish it inadvertently. It's so horribly short that I thought "okay, I'm going to do one more fetch quest and then I'll do some of the guilds before the real storyline starts" and to my utter horror the game congratulated me on victory.
Here's a short summary of the plot: You get the big MacGuffin, you lose the big MacGuffin, you gather four minor MacGuffins that allow you to recover the big MacGuffin, you do so, the end. That's it. It's kinda like the very end of Morrowind, where you need to find the dwemer artifacts so that you can destroy the big bad, except the 99% of game that came before that is missing.

That's because this is an Action-RPG whereas Morrowind was an RPG with Action in it.

If by 'Action' you mean "Click repeatedly while your dagger clips through this mudcrab doing no damage."

Although I have to say I remember enjoying Morrowind a lot more than I did Oblivion.

I only played Oblivion a few times, but own Morrowind. I still enjoy it, a bit. The world's a bit too static for me.

Also, first time I played: "HIT. THE. FUCKING. CRAB. I'M AIMING RIGHT AT IT".

The miss sound haunts my dreams still.

You obviously don't use enough explosive punches.

Yeah. You don't miss NEARLY as much if you have good skill invested in the weapon, though, which is what makes weapon specialization much more important in Morrowind than Oblivion.

Well I still think that the best game ever would be Morrowind running on Oblivion's engine. The graphics, the ability to cast with your weapon out, the special perks you get when you reach a certain skill level, those are all really neat things that Oblivion has going. But the world and the storyline just totally kill it for me.

You all have forgotten shortly that with enough mods, you can fix anything and everything wrong with the game. More monsters? Mods! More magic? Mods! More challenge? Mods! More lore? Mods! More story? Mods! More stuff do to? Mods! Less crashing? Mo- The Unofficial Oblivion Patch!.. And messing with your settings.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

I'm pretty sure Tamriel Rebuilt is working on both Morrowind and Oblivion, but that's been taking awhile, apparently.  I recently saw a short video of Syda Neen remade through modding Oblivion, and it looked pretty cool.  Not sure if it was TR or something else, though.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

I've heard of several projects like that over the years, but AFAIK they all focus on their own content. I'm not really sure Bethsoft would be too happy about an unofficial remake like that. And they also seem to be progressing extremely slowly, if at all.

Ok, off-railed thread...

Anyway. Have you checked whether your game resolution matches to your actual resolution? Maybe the game is in normal resolution while your screen is actually set for widescreen or something like that.
