What I find sad is that everone seems to want to revive ye olden games these days, but faceplants in the attempt. I'm tempted to say that we ought to treat revivals like movie tie-ins, with caution.

What's this?  Mainstream gaming?  Never!

*Sigh* Why are so many Indie games fans like this...

I had hoped that by phrasing it so strongly, the parody would be obvious.  I once again underestimated the internet.  ::)

The problem is, there are a lot of people who will say what you did and mean it, straight-faced...

Yeah, only ID actually had a hand in this one.  And the last few Wolfenstein incarnations have been great.

The game is too easy. A fully pimped out Kar98 is more then enough to kill everything that doesn't have it's own theme song and the few bosses that require more power are treated with the particle cannon/LF42. And when i stop pretending that the game is even remotely challenging by using only a bolt action rifle i run straight at the enemies and use Mire, which instantly kills them. Graphics are average at best, sound decent, gameplay archaic. I can't remember any time where i was killed by anything not one of the following:
5: Exploding sniffers(once)
4: Telefragging by Veil Wall
3: Hans phase 2
2: Mire detonating a nearby barrel.
1: Having Defiled spawned ontop of me.
I had the PC version and played on Uber.

It seems to me like developers have failed to simply sit down and say:

-What did we like about [old game]?
-What did we not like about [old game]?
-What new features do we wish we had in [old game]?

And instead try to create CoD with a re-skinning. Why can they not just sit down and start with a formula that worked, that wasn't CoD/WoW, and only change things they know will benefit the game? Instead it's:

-CoD is good.
-How can we make ourselves like CoD, without making it obvious?

Good ideas get wasted this way.
I could probably atomic rage for pages, but I'll stop myself here.

Interesting tid-bit about this game,

I did some of the motion capture acting work for the nazi's in this game, so when you're shooting them... you're in a way shooting me...

bastards..

I think i'll have to pick this up so that i too can shoot me.
