Hahha, I live in America where we let anyone go to college!

Seriously I wish we had tests that limit career options, it would keep the idiots out of important fields. Instead, we had bush as a president.

We do have an entrance exam.  It's called "pony up the dough cheapskate".

It's really something your parents have to pass at. Unless you get massive finicial aid. But if your middle class - that's pretty much 0. Irony: The most important tax paying class gets barely any of it.

Hmmm, I regularly scored high on the National tests, but did terrible in school. I think the tests don't serve as an accurate benchmark for how well you did or will do in school, but how well you could do.

Of course, I live halfway around the world from England.

Eh its kinda of debateable whether tests are accurate benchmarks of knowledge, memorizing something is one thing but aplying it is another. Thats one of the things I don't like about the current system. Like for example to be a preschool teacher, even for mentally disabled children, you still need some rather high math courses. It seems like alot of the higher math most people will never use, where as classes like econ can be very useful.

I've been through it before. It's hell. Personally, I just sat at a friend's house and played video games while it was out.

I only scored well, not straight A's like I aimed for. And in the end, I still got into the best technical college in the country, which wasn't even all that good. Had I scored straight A's, nothing would've changed. Nobody looks at school results later on in life. It's always the results of whatever's the latest exam you took.

Grades don't matter. It's which college you end up that matters. Try to get into the best you can. Trust me, it's more fun to suffer with others of the same level of intelligence as you than to be superior over idiotic classmates and suddenly find out that you learned little once you search for a job. The good colleges and the poor ones are about the same price anyway, so you get the best out of your money that way :P

Italy here.
65/100 at high school, wich is, well, mediocre. Actually it's the bare minimum.

Medicine school (university, college, whatever you name it): 8th out of 550 candidates. First 110 admitted, better luck next year for the following 400. A lot of 95 and 100/100 in those 400.

So, to sum it up, if it's something you care about and you put some effort in it, you should not be worried about the score.
If it's not important, who cares?

OK, you've got me wondering. How did you get scores that good in everything else but a D in ICT?
