When I want info on local up-and-coming bands, I just ask my sister. She knows the Leeds music scene like the back of her hand.

When people get into a band they tend to research it a lot. These days I'd bet that Wikipedia is the number one place for that research, unless it's a very small local band, in which case you can probably learn it all by word of mouth from people who know the band personally.

Obscure people will be known by people with obscure interests.

I talk about audio with people every so often, so of COURSE I've heard the name "Nyquist" before.

As far as music and such is concerned, word-of-mouth. If I hear about some barely-known band, it's not because I read about them anywhere, it's because I heard about it from a guy who heard about it from a guy, etc. And somewhere along the line, maybe someone did read about them somewhere, like in a music magazine.

Really, as long as you're interested in things and talk to people regularly about them, you're going to hear about obscure stuff.

Could be talking about Psychopathic Records, if she's a juggalo. Let's all pray otherwise.

"Since she was a kid" kinda cements it, I'm afraid.

I take no one here ever picked up a copy of Rolling Stone?  Magazines about bands and the professional music scene are probably the single largest type of magazine, and believe it or not, lots of people read them, and before the Internet came along (which is a repository of info printed elsewhere) that was the source of "inside" info.

It's true.  I've become quite skilled at coming up with elaborate excuses on very short notice.  It's saved me from horrid fates more than once.

The only juggalos I've known have been socially-stunted manchildren you'd generally expect to smell bad and have a meth problem. I guess it doesn't help that they don't seem to know what the word "hatchet"  means.

I still think it's kind of amusing how ICP completely retconned their discography into a Join Jesus Metaphor. Kind of makes their songs about violence seem a bit weirder in that context. Either that, or it was planned all along, which is hilarious in a completely different way.

Do have good music though, rather enjoy their songs; probably only music I could consider buying.
