Nah, because a few weeks later someone else tried to convince me Mac was better than Windows, and I pulled that one out, he actually gave reasons why he thought it was worth paying more. I wasn't convinced that Mac was better than Windows, but I did give it to him that he had good arguments though I forget what they were. :/

Also, the first person I mentioned, had windows installed on his mac and that's one of the reasons he claimed mac was better. "Best of both worlds!"...by shelling out the cash for both worlds...

What these things really need more than anything else is simpler program compatability.  I'm sure there are more programs than just games that are exclusive to one operating system, and several of them could be very useful.

Then each company should offer the kind of repair service Mac has, but also offer the personal freedom to do with the system what you will that Windows does.  Then throw in any other good features other systems might have.

If that can all be done, then the question is not which system can do what, but what each system's strengths are; they'd all be able to do anything you might need, just some might work better for certain tasks than others.

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what google was trying to do with its OS.  I need to look into that more.  I heard about it once from my brother, and haven't heard anything since.

I'm somewhat excited about Chrome OS. From what I've read, it's supposed to boot up and be ready to go within 10 seconds, as well as being immune to viruses (more so than the mac way)

If they followed their pattern with Chrome, it would also be open source.

Anyway, supposedly Win7 takes up less power than Vista, whilst being slicker/more functional (not in any massive way) as well. So I'd safely all Vista a fuckup.

Macs just don't realize that they suck... 'How could anything so expensive suck? Obviously it's the better brand!'

Open source = Viruses, if it gets popular.

And a lot of other things that are harder to do without open source.

Although, my major tinkering concern is being able to open up the computer and replace parts myself; assemble something myself, even if it's nothing fancy.  Having to spend extra money to get it sent away, looked at, and repaired seems really inefficient to me when I know (enough about) what to do.  For other people who don't, having that service available is a good idea, but forcing everyone to use it just by the way your machine is designed is a terrible idea.
