have a look at this game, it seems like the sort of thing you guys'd like.

its a game where you control the titular "stronghold" building it up, creating characters t populate it, and generally Bugger about.

looks like a DF precursor.

Wow.  The sad thing is, I already have a copy of that (as well as the other game named Stronghold, but that's a different matter).  It is somewhat interesting, and fun for a while, though I wouldn't go so far as to call it a great game.  Still, probably worth it, as it seems you can get it for fairly cheap as the MobyGames site says.

yeah, i know about the Other stronghold, this one, however, seems a much more interesting distraction.

You forgot clothing, always take clothing when breaking into places. It can take years off your sentence.

Anyway, the game itself looks pretty awesome, I'm gonna try and get my hands on it tomorrow (Pocket knife style).

This game is epic, but the micromanagement can be a bitch.

Not only you have to manage an entire civilization... you have to manage 4 simultaneously! And you literally have to free builders so that they can go and build the stuff that you made.

how about RAMPART! (never got to play it myself, but the review looked fun)
