 The last thread that asked this question was from 07 so I thought it was safe to ask it again.
   
 So what music do you think works well with playing DF?
I usually listen to Led Zeplin because its pretty mellow for rock and their Lord of the Rings themed lyrics fit so well. Everything works well but Achilles last stand works particularly well for Adventure mod.

I've been listening to the BSG soundtrack while playing, and it always seems to be playing the right music for the situation. It has a lot of percussion and bagpipes or something like that.

Any music can fit dwarf fortress really, just depends how you take the context of the song.

Everything you guys said (loads of zep, loads of finnish folk metal). The new BSG sounds like crap so I play the original theme when I'm about to finish up a big objective, it's just so epic. Whenever the elves come I play Trees by Rush, and the humans/goblins/dwarves/everyone else gets primus when they arrive.

Anything like Korpiklaani without lyrics, I think. Folk metal for battles and stuff, but the type of music Toady uses works well too.

Well they don't really fit the game but I've been listening to a lot of The Stranglers while playing. Although the album Raven is somewhat Norseman themed at a push.

I put the Moria tracks from the LoTR Soundtrack in. Really fits the atmosphere of a fortress.

Because of a particular part of the default musical accompaniment reminds me of the James Bond theme core riff (just a probably coincidental selection of notes), I tend to have the various move soundtracks in my head.  Despite having initfile muted the music a long time ago.  (Nothing against the music.  I do quite like it.  But I'm usually listening to the radio (or recordings of the radio from during the day while I was here at work) whilst playing so it's been a while since I had the aural bandwidth to handle it.
