Yeah, I'm thinking it's a joke, since you can't carry magma in a bucket.

I'm pretty he meant he builds a giant 'bucket' from constructed wooden walls, which you can indeed safely store magma in.

Yeah, it's a shame that can't actually happen as I described, but if there was a movie of it happening, it would probably be one of the funniest things to watch.

You know wooden constructions don't actually burn up from magma right? (Unless the magma enters their square of course, such as with wooden fortifications)

Wrong. It's buildings that can be affected by magma entering their square. Wooden constructions are not affected by magma under any circumstances, and I have successfully pumped magma through wooden fortifications with no ill effects.

Why not suspend the wood-construction 'bucket' with wood supports?
When the bucket falls, the constructions revert to logs, which are very flammable.

Now let's attempt to replicate my statement with this factored in. This sounds like fun.
