I don't quite get what the issue is with milking non-vermin- the creature has to be carried, sure, but mothers carry infants and goblin snatchers carry dwarf children inside bags, so what's the big deal? Is it that farm animals are too heavy to carry?

Also the ability for haulers to move even elephants if they are in a cage.

The average adult Holstein cow(a common dairy breed) is 1750 lbs, according to Wikipedia.  I imagine even the dwarves would have a hard time with that.

Yes, but if my legendary haulers can toss around bins full of gold bars without any problems they should probably be able to pick up a scrawny, dwarf-bred, cave-dwelling cow.

you know, it also depends on the form of the matter. while weightlifting champions might clean and jerk like 180 kg, im sure they wouldnt be capable of doing that when these 180 kg where, let's say, cheese instead of iron, because of the different density. a cow just isn't as handy as a bin filled with gold.
on a side note, it's funny that you mention the Holstein cow, the area it's got its name from happens to be where i live :D

It amuses me that some thread I make take days to get a single post.

But throw the word "Cheese" into your thread, and it gets upwards of 30 replies in less than 24 hours.

Keep up the good work, guys.  :D

Someone had to say it. Everything is better with cheese....

The milking issue isn't so much with vermin as it is with "venom." It just so happens that vermin are venomous and thus can be milked. Cows are not venomous and thus can't be milked. The venom is merely harmless and tagged as edible in the case of certain creatures. That is my understanding of it anyhow.

Only in DF would one ever remotely think, "cows are not milkable because they are not venomous...."

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

I thought that dwarf women were naturally extra busty to compensate for their beards and short legs.

Uh ok.. I thought 'YAK!' was an expression of extreme disgust, so I think we already agree on this one
