If that were true, we are very lucky. Benevolence is not a widespread trait when someone is put in the position of a God. I think maybe 5% of this planet wouldn't do something dickish should they ever become a God. Hell, they can always put it back together afterwards.

Yeah, well...

What if God was one of us?

Just a slob, like one of us?

Just a stranger on the bus, trying to make his way home...

For all we know our god used to be just an average guy in his universe and then died and got to be god of ours. We should consider ourselves lucky.

Perhaps.

HOW THE HELL CAN YOU KNOW MY THOUGHTS???? [/screamers!]

Perhaps the office of god has been run by different people throughout history? It would explain the somewhat schizophrenic behavior that has been ascribed to him.

Once tried to conquer Earth, and succeeded! Too bad it got really, really boring, really, really fast.

One day, we shall all look back on this, and laugh. Sorry about the face, by the way, and the legs, and the eyes, and the arms. In fact, sorry 'bout the whole body.

And suddenly I realize that the song I just referenced might be unfamiliar with someone below the age of 18...

Gah. I feel old.

*looks around frantically*

No, uh, I meant IWM! Yeah, really!

You mean like Old Testament MURDERDEATHKILL God versus New Testament FeedTheHungry God?

This is the most mild religious debate ever.

And oddest. In my limited experience.
