On to the topic: Basically, your character is a gladiator-type person in The Arena, in a town called City.
The Arena: Location of the fights. Fights are to the death. [PERMADETH:YES]
Betting Station: Place bets on fighters here
Housing: This is where gladiators live
Shops: Buy weapons, armor, and other useful stuff here
Training Arena: Fights are not to the death and there is less risk of injury, but you get less experience and no gold.
Medical Center: Heal up if you survive your fight. All gladiators get 3 free complete healings, but any other healings cost gold.
(1) Epic fail. Very bad in fights. Overpriced/sold out item in shops
(2) Fail. Things aren't going your way. Slightly overpriced item in shops
(3) Neutral. Not bad, but not good. Fair price in shops
(4) Slight success. On the good side, but not great. Fair price in shops, but discount for bulk.
(5) Success. Good for you! Discount in shops
(6) Excellent. Combined with a low enemy roll, this is almost a sure win. Free/huge discount items in shops

Magical Energy: Affects magic power and energy pool
Physical Energy: Affects most physical actions in some way
Perception: mostly useful in multi-way, affects what you notice
Charisma: Affects persuasion/charming. Only for out of battle or surrender rolls
Endurance: Affects health
Luck: All sorts of miscellaneous affects
Resistance: How well you defend against magic
Intelligence: Magic fighters are intelligent. This stat helps you learn new spells and combination effects

I roll using the above format to see what quality item you get and its cost. For starting out, all items are using list price with no quality modifier. You can only carry 1 extra weapon, 5 small items, and 20,000 gold at a time, but large items and ones you can't carry can be sent to your room, for a price. The odds of getting poor, average, and good items are equal. The number and letter in parentheses refer to price and reach of weapons, and a * means that it enhances magic effect.
