Predict your end
« on: August 22, 2009, 04:19:53 am »

Time for a fun thread!

Let's predict how long we'll stay on these forums. As in, how long more before the inevitable time comes when you either find something else to do or another forum to visit or you don't have time to come here and post any more or you get banned. How long do you think you'll be on the Bay12 forums for? How long more before you fade away into obscurity? How long more do you think this community will be active?

I think I'll be here for maybe 2 years or so for personal reasons which you guys probably don't care about anyway. So.. here's to hoping the game is complete within two years... yeah... probably not going to happen. As for the community, I haven't the faintest idea. I bet it'll last as long as Toady continues the game and when he decides to stop, it will continue for about a year before collapsing, if it comes to that.

Most likely real life will take me in, can already feel its pull on me.

I dunno though, kinda tired of gaming, already played a good portion of the games this computer can play and new games are too high tech for it, when I go to Iowa in the next year I probably won't even bring it.

So I'm guessing about a half year to year of being able come on here regularly then just disappear for a few years while I sort out my life and depending how certain events unfold come back one day.

Well, I'll be off to university next year, leaving home and the comforts of not paying for electricity and internet. So being the budget weary student, I may have to cut away some of my time on these forums and on my computer in general. I'll also have less free time splitting what time I ain't studying with working, socializing and sleeping.

Unless I fall off the face of the planet, I probably will stay here until the community crumbles. Honestly though, as I get older, it feels like mysteriously vanishing to another world is more likely.
I intend to take a break from society for awhile, preferably before college, so I'll be gone then, but I'll most likely come back when it's over.

For the entirety of the foreseeable future really. I don't think Toady will ever stop doing DF, or anything else that makes the community disappear.
I will probably not be be as active in the community as I am now for more than a few years, but I'll probably keep the devlog in my RSS forever, which means possibly following links from it to FotF or similar threads evry few weeks atleast, and I have Email notification so I'll most likely be able to respond to PMs as well.

I'll be hit by a car and killed.

Wait, you meant on the forums? Um. As far as the forseeable future.

I will disappear every six months and reappear two months following, never ceasing until the game is done or I am dead.

I might disappear in October, to be back whenever I feel like.

Of course, I'll always stop by every now and then to see if Toady's done yet.

I'll download the next version of DF, get insanely addicted to it, then get bored once I find something cool. Or I'll get frustrated with something. Or I'll find another forum where people are cooler. If I had to pick, it'd be the first.

Well I'll probably be here at least another year, unless university changes me radically. If anything I'll be on more because halls come with all your bills paid so I wont have to worry about electricity at all. After that though most second year students rent a house with friends at which point I may have to cut back on the computer so I don't create a massive electricity bill.

Funny stuff comes up here.  I'll probably at least keep up with it for as long as it is around.

Visiting the forums has become a daily ritual, so I don't see me stoping anytime within the next two years. I doubt I'll get banned, I have never even gotten a warning so far and plan to keep it that way. Besides, this is a cool gateway to new indie games.

As long as Workerdrone, Josh, Aqizzar and Jackrabbit stay here I will. Though the rest of the community is pretty awesome too, so Ill probably be here a while.

I couldn't even come close to predicting it.  My life isn't nearly planned or predictable enough to have an idea, and I hope it stays that unpredictable.  ;D
