I think that spell mod you got has some holy-themed spells. Work towards them and use them when you can.

 Time for some tomb robbin'.

I saw an altmer standing around by the nearby decks. i was going to greet her, but she thought outloud,

"This is a travesty. I need to get my crystal ball... If it wasn't for those damn spirits..."
I was going to say something when she continued,
"Oh now I'll never get it back! My family heirloom... "
Being the nice Nord I am, I walked up to her and offered to assist her. She introduced herself as Varulae and readily agreed after an initial bout of surprise.

"I charted a crew to go to Summurset Isle and retrieve my mother's crystal ball. They got it but they were all murdered onboard! The crystal ball is in the ship's hold and I almost died trying to get there!"

I said that I would solve the problem, and she thanked me profusively. Varulae then cast a gaze across me and seemed very... apprehensive. I realised why.

I had no weapons or coin of any kind.

Damn, this is going to be harder than I thought.

I should probably find some equipment fast. I have never fought a spirit before, but I remember from my ma's tales that they can only be harmed by silver or something else that is magical too.

Go kill somebody, get a town guard on our ass. Kite them all the way to the middle of the country. Kill them. Take their silver longsword.

I am not joking I did this.  With a basic fire spell.

I'm playing on hard difficulty...

ANVIL DOCKS, 2AM

As I was walking the docks I spoke to a kind Imperial woman called Mirabelle Monet.
She told me that she ran the Fo'c's'le, a board house for seamen. She said that she reserved the beds for them. She also warned that the seamen hated us 'landlubbers' and would only be more than happy to start a fight.

When I asked Mirabelle about the latest news around town, she said that Velwyn Benirus is trying to sell Benirus manor... and that the place is haunted! Interesting... Anvil must hold a few secrets afterall...

Practice spellcasting until you're good enough with a fireball, then talk to some people and ask for nearby forts. Go to Fort Strand and kill a bandit outside. Loot their weapon and then run back to the town.

ANVIL CITY, 2:23AM

I spoke to a guard as I entered the city gates and he said that I looked like a strong and healthy Nord... He advised me to join the Fighter's Guild if I wanted some coin. I told him that I would look into it.

Instead, I walked around town and I saw a hobo sleeping. I just couldn't resist the temptation. I silently crept up and stole that bugger's money. I couldn't believe my eyes... 150 gold! From a freaking beggar! What damn dirty scamp.a

150 gold?! What a scamp!

Not that it's wrong to be wrong, but does no one see something slightly wrong with this?

Of course, this depends on who your Crusader is crusading for.

I usually model my Crusaders after the Christian crusaders. It pretty much boils down to "If it's not your religion, kill it with fire."

Mysteriously, everybody should know that you stole that in the morning.  I would go kill some bandits.

Advise getting a mod to make theft easier?

Just go fighters guild for equipment and go mad on the local tomb.
