Psychic Dwarves from the Mountainhome
« on: August 21, 2009, 03:16:45 am »

I recently got a legendary bonecrafter (and a rather lame earring) from a mood, in spring of the 2nd year of my fort.  It's now Autumn, and the second dwarf caravan has arrived - and some of their goods are decorated with images of my artifact earring.

How could they even know what it looks like?!!

Beware! They have spies everywhere!

It's a trap  tarp  carp!

That's better. And yes, humanoid beings of the DF universe are famed for having the phsycic prowess to make clumps of sand lethal weapons.

Considering it's possible for Dwarves to name creatures in a hidden Chasm that you have not revealed yet and they cannot possibly know even exists, i'd say this is pretty mild.

The thread title would make for a great movie.

Nah, B-rated at best. I don't think audiences would be too receptive of villainous fish and over sized birds.

That's the idea. Although it'd work best with the inclusion an inexperienced makeup crew and a low special-effects budget.

Kobold spies.

Everyone uses them - you think they're really risking their life for that shiny bauble or +Pigtail Sock+? Simple pretext, or an unreliable agent giving in to temptation, nothing more! Ambush squads? Mercenary harassment.

You're just lucky that one was spying for the mountainhomes, and not your enemies. Seems the current administration isn't big on privacy.

Anti Mcarthy era!

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Dwarven thoughts can attach themselves to cat spores, which the feline denizens of the fortress release every year, and which eventually are carried by wind currents to the exhulted domain of the mountainhome.

I once found a picture of my soldier killing an insane metalcrafter, who the hell knows he killed him? He was the only near the metalcrafter a the time. And the metalcrafter fell into fricken magma. Thank god equipment stockpiles are always near there.

Well, maybe since nobody else saw the soldier decided to embellish the story a bit and tell it to his friends...
