The only way to test that theory is to Atom-Smash Planepacked and see what happens.
I let you guess how many ideas have sprung from my mind thanks to Planepacked.

All of them. All ideas that ever were and ever will be.

Man, I need to smash me some Planepacked.

I volunteer to be atomsmashed. I appreciate that it might hurt a a little, and chances of survival are low, but when I get there I'll atomsmash you a postcard.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Am I the only one that clicked on this thread expecting the first line to contain "THIS is a dwarven atom smasher!" in a Crocodile Dundee manner?

Gentlemen, FOR SCIENCE!

If you could forward us your contact information, we will transport you to our lab facilities ASAP.  Also, the planepacked theory has come up before.  We determined it to be on the same level of threat as a time paradox to a time machine.  We will have to avoid such tests until we can gather enough information to avoid a universal implosion due to a reality induced recursion.  Please, I beg you people to be reasonable... LET'S ATOMSMASH A BOTTOMLESS PIT INSTEAD!!!

So you're suggesting that the bridge comes down so hard it bashes things off the universe?

If you consider that the dwarven atom smasher has infinite momentum and moves from up to down in a differential moment, it's completely feasible.

Given snow-templar's theory, part of me wants to do that, seeing as he'll end up in this world.

I would volunteer myself, but until tests prove that absolutely nothing is left under the bridge after smashing, I'm not willing to take the risk.

Seriously, we may have stumbled upon some serious shit right here.
If we can build a bridge that moves so fast that absolutely nothing is left between it and the floor, there's a possibility that we will have discovered interdimensional travel.
