Y'know, if AI nations in every strategy game everywhere eventually just gave up instead of relentlessly attacking my numerically and technologically superior force and proving themselves to be general nuisance, I would let them live. But no, they attack, attack, and attack.

i emphasize, for some reason self preservation isnt in most AIs vocabulary (possibly in alpha centuri's) but in most games AI players will often attack you suicidally just for the sake of it. I often return the irritation with mass murder hoping to teach them a lesson (they asked for it) but they never learn. Galactic civ and total war are probably the worst at this Imo. in medival total war 2 your allies will foten attack you even if you are far more powerful than them, and even if they are already preoccupied with war, simply becaue you ahve one territory on their border thats not too well defended.

AI in strategy games is often remarkably similar in its flaws.

Mm, I know that problem.

The Dutch are idiots.

YOU HAVE ONE TERRITORY LEFT, TAKING EDINBURGH IS A BAD IDEA. Oh, look, you're dead now. Big castle right behind you? What the hell was the point of that little invasion?

It's as if Hitler took York, station two men with water pistols there and declared the war over.

The Turks are the worst.

They had 1 territory left, I had 3 armies surrounding the city at every exit. I send a diplomat.

"Listen, you're fucked. Become my vassal and I'll spare you."

"We will never surrender!"

"Listen, I'll give you back 1 of your territories."

"NO!"

"I'll give 20000 florins too."

"It is good to see you are suffering from this war, we however are still capable of fighting!"

I burned the city to the ground and left it to the rebels.

I kinda wish games would tell you WHY someone doesn't accept your proposals with more details then "They don't like you"

Especially you Total War Series (especially Empire which was supposed to fixed it up)

Interestingly If ANY Native American tribe/civilisation takes a city owned by a Major power they will burn EVERYTHING to the ground and rebuild it. Sounds like Genocide to me!

But DANG IT couldn't you have kept the farms? You didn't have to burn those down too.

Infamos was odd in the sense that I heard that the good path had the worse story but it clearly had the better powers (unfortunately WAY better then evil)

Oh! How much do we all love GalCiv? I'm usually good but I was playing a religiously insane race and used race relations as a means of getting close enough with my fleets to rip people to shreds.

And yet, the most powerful race at the end was a minor one. I still one.

If it's an artificial race that is programmed to behave a certain way in the game, and therefore is an automaton, it don't count as genocide in my book.  If elves were real, I wouldn't treat them the way I do in DF.  I would instead just kill all the caravans.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.

I always exterminate people in Rome:total war. They won't bow down to my magnificent acheivements (quick enough) so they can bow down to my hastatis swords splattering them. :D :D :D :D
Also don't stand on a corner when i'm driving in GTAIV or you will regret it.

What REALLY makes genocide hard is in games like Master of Orion where the AIs will pathetically beg you for peace every time you nuke one of their colonies. I usually leave them one or two. Although it's not like that makes it a whole lot better since I killed several billion of their species and just left a few zoological specimens alive, in effect.

I just systematically glass every world in MoO. Especially when playing as the psilons.
20 medium ships scare the shit out of everything they have. Stop running away I want to kill you. Only 89 million people killed!? Thats not all of them you useless bastards.
Also Hearts of Iron needs at least a p.o.w feature. Its a game about the freaking Nazi's. Seriously.
