Gmail: looks like I can't do anything on my own.

Gmail looks pretty nifty, and I might consider using it since I created an account recently. What I am REALLY interested in though is that when I first signed up, a window popped up asking me if I'd like Gmail to automatically handle my email when following a link, meaning that that terrible, unusable program Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 won't pop up anymore.

I, however, was skeptical, and chose to decline, thinking that I could do it later. Well, I want to do it now, and I'm looking through the settings, but I don't see anything like I saw before! How do I change it?

Does anyone here have Gmail, and can help me?

I've never gotten such a message from gmail but it would be nice, since Outlook is mad stupid. I've never seen why people insist on using it.

I never got such a message, so I'm suspicious. I don't use Outlook though; I just log in at the Gmail website and handle my mail in the browser.

I don't think there's a version of Evolution for Windows, but Thunderbird is a pretty nice mail client.

Yes, I use it with my Gmail account everyday.

Easy enough, and if you got e-mail, a notificiation will pop-up.

If you install Google Talk or the Gmail Notifier (both tiny official Google apps), you can set an option in there to have Gmail handle email links (mailto).

HA! Thanks FootkerChief! With that little hint, I found the instructions to doing what I want!
