Balista Arrows
« on: August 19, 2009, 07:00:00 pm »

Throwing a balista arrow was probably the most awesome thing I've ever done, simply because it takes up 2 squares instead of the normal one, simply making them look awesome when tossed. Sure I only severed some poor dwarfs arm but I mean come on, it's a giant arrow.

So I challenge anyone and everyone to find something more hardcore to throw then a balista arrow.

An arrow that does bludgeon damage.  Grab 'em in stacks, and with high skill you can hit some one more than 7 tiles away and knock them into a tree even further away, whereupon they are blown apart from the impact.

they don't need to be made of adamantite but yeah those would be cool if they worked like there imagined too.

Do those even exist in game?

No you can't find ballista arrows? Because I have. Funny to throw them too. Can you imagine a fortress full of old adventurers?

He meant 'no you cant find ballista arrows that do bludgeon damage'. I dont know if you can mod it in, as the default raw file for ballista arrow doesnt have a specified damage type at all.

Its pretty funny though how wooden ballista bolts, essentialy just a pointy stick, utterly dismember everything in their way.

Strange, because a blunt stick does fuck all. amazing what a point can do.

Remember kids, delete everything but "menaces with spikes" from the raws, yo.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

You have inspired me to make boxing-glove arrows and bolts.
Both will do bludgeion damage.
