Dwarf Fortress: Impending Doom
« on: August 18, 2009, 03:34:31 am »

Hello! This is my first mod project. It's aimed to expand most of the expects of DF, like in the Dig Deeper mod (but this is my own spin at it).
The idea is that you can have up to 8-10 sieges yearly if you are unlucky. The new megabeast are also much more powerful, like the Giant Undead Whale.

Features:

(Done)
(Working on it)
(Incomplete)
(Not yet started)
+ Section
- Subsection
. Subsection of the Subsection

+More civilizations:
-Orcs
.Orcs & Goblins should be leaded by Orc Warbosses and collaborate
-Dwarfs of the plains (Bigger than the normal dwarf)
-Dwarfs of the deep (Found in really high mountains)

-Black humans
-Yellow humans
-Mountain Elves (lol.)
-Arachnids
-Ogres
-Stridiths (small, weak but extremely numerous)
-Corrupted Humans
-Corrupted Dwarfs
-Corrupted Elfs
-Ratlings (Like ratmen, but more intelligent)
-Undead

+New items
-New weapons

-New metals
-New shields
-New rocks

+Creatures
-new megabeasts and semimegabeasts

.BERGMAN_BEAR (Giant bear with a bad temper, semimegabeast)
.POISON_TREANT (Treant with a really powerful venom,semimegabeast)

.ENORMOUS_CS (A huge cave spider that does not like sitting in a cave. Semimegabeast)
.GARGARUS_EAGLE (You know giant eagles? Well imagine one that's five times faster and almost twice as big. Megabeast)
.BRASS_TITAN (A huge brass colossus. Megabeast)
.ELDER_DRAGON (Bigger, faster, meaner. Megabeast)
.GIANT_ZOMBIE_WHALE (Somehow it reached you from the sea. Megabeast)
.MAGMA_GOLEM (Megabeast)
.ADAMANTINE_GOLEM (Almost invulnerable to everything, but slow. Megabeast)

-New creatures
-New pets

New weapons so far:
Heavy Crossbow (Heavier, two handed but with extra damage)
Siege Crossbow (Super-heavy, but deals massive Bludgeon damage)
Lance (Little damage but has a critboost of 4)
Fencing Sword (A sword that deals piercing damage)
Cleaver (A swordlike weapon)
Giant Cleaver (Dwarfs can't use it, but it's a really terrifying weapon)
Spiked Whip (A whip with spikes. Has a critboost of 2)
Spiked Scourge (A scourge with spikes. Has a critboost of 2)
Spiker (A spike launcher. The spikes deal gore damage. Ideal for subduing rampaging animals)
Composite Bow (The same of a normal bow, for now)
Axe (Less damage than a normal Great Axe, but can be dual wielded)
Large Scimitar (Slightly more powerful than the normal 2 handed sword)
Smith's Hammer (A hammer that uses MetalCrafting as it's ability)

New Creatures so far:
GONTHAR_GOAT (Agressive goats that spawn in packs of 10 or more)
JORMUND_WOLF (Giant wolves)
GIANT_BEETLE (Spawn in massive numbers in chasms or swamps)
and more.

New Materials so far:
Mithril(While it's easy to find Mithrim ore, producing mithril is extremely difficult. You need Fire Imp meat and bones in big quantities to refine the ore, but even then the result is not certain. However, weapons or armour made from Mithril are basically indestructable; in fact they are more valuable than an adamantine counterpart)

I will add more as I get more ideas and stuff.
I'm open to suggestions.

Don't Adamantine Golems more or less exist already?

Adamantine Golems don't spawn in adamantine ores, they will attack the fortress like a normal megabeast

Sounds good. Also, make them all attack in zulu-like waves, but be really weak. That way we can have proper glorious battles against the hordes of elfdom.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.
