Okay, I've got Solifuge's scores. So I'm going to close judging now and start tabulating scores.

Great job to all the judges. Turned out better than I expected.

A great job to everybody! The players, especially, deserve commendation for the excellent fortresses that they produced.

Congratulations to Slogo, whom I deem it in my authority to award the title: Master of Muckgrotto! Wear it with pride!

Congrats all, including Jim and Solifuge for running this competition! Rankings aside, I did enjoy everyone's fort. Come out for DFM3 when the new version's out!

Awesome! Thanks again for doing the judging everyone, and thanks to all the people who entered. I can't wait to see what awesome forts the future competitions end up with.

To celebrate I took some Stonesense picture. You can't really get a sense of the central tower or the roof of the Grotto but oh well.

I note the lack of civ bonus points.

Well, I notice no sortage of snarky remarks from the peanut gallery, so I guess that balances out.

...just kidding!

When tallying thse things up, I totally didn't include those in the final scores. I'd love to be able to blame Jim Groovester, but it was 100% my bad. This whole scoring process was takien directly from DFM1, without much adaptation for the challenges, and I only had access to my old score-calculating table, which didn't include the city scores (those were assessed afterward).

But either way, scores were already tallied, and I'm not about to revoke medals. As a point of future advice to whoever was in charge of this contest; you seriously need some more structure.

I mean, gawd!

*giggles, but still wonders where they'd go*

It doesn't look like they'd affect the placement.

That's what my thinking was when I was lazy and decided to have the judges ignore them. Well, it wasn't so much having them ignore it, as it was I didn't want to mess with Solifuge's judging system from the DFMC1.

I have the judge's individual scores. Should I post them?

You should post any feedback the judges included with their scores.

Lol at using Slogo and Logo I didn't even realize I do that here. I go by both in so many places I don't even think about it anymore.

I'm curious now what I had for defense, I know I had some crossbowmen and at least a few champions but were they really just all Wrestlers? I think I remember having 2-4 squads of 2 xbowmen and 2 squads of 3x axe/sword/hammer dwarves but they were probably all just wrestlers. I never actually used the bridges for defense. Any time there was a siege I'd just send any of the nearby military out to deal with it. It was actually a huge pain, a lot of the times the captain or 1/2 of the unit would be off in the tower or the grotto grabbing food or whatever. I also remember a bunch of... accidents... with my Military and guard. I know I lost at least 1 to a cave in, a few more to training injuries, and at least 1-2 to a siege (due to the aforementioned problem of 1/2 the unit being elsewhere).

The bridges are deceptively useful it takes forever for the dwarves to haul everything inside. By the time they do the next siege has already been relieved of their belongings. This is especially problematic when sieges opt to stand on the other side of a part of the moat scaring dwarves rather than pathing around.

Looking over my scorecard again, I can see all sorts of typoes and awkward formatting caused by me just running a hasty ctrl-h to replace a bunch of the formatting I lost from typing it up in Word. Eep. Sorry for accidentally spelling your name both wrong and incredibly awkwardly, realmfighter XD

Yeah, in terms of defense I generally found just-wrestlers less impressive than those with other weapon skills and did a quick armour gauge all around to see what kind of a hit they could take. I also tried to see what toughness would be if the drawbridges were hypothetically left down, since I've never liked the use of just raising a tiny bridge and keeping out an entire siege (or just locking a door in one case), so I tended to give a lower score to those who relied on that. But what am I explaining myself over and over again for? My scorecard's right up there.
