If any player doesn't want to take the full 8 years, they can submit the map early. If there's anything you want to take care of yet, though, you've got time for it. I'll be spending a day or two mailing judges with the rules and all that business.

ok, I'm just going to check for any fall immigrants, then I'll submit the map, because nothing really happens in Winter.

Sieges happen in winter. I love sieges...

Maybe I'm just odd, but I haven't had *any* goblin sieges.  Humans sieged me in the summer of 102 and 103.  I've had a few goblin ambushes, but absolutely no goblin sieges, even with my seven digit wealth.  Maybe they don't like me.

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

Here is my submission.

Save
Map
Z screen:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Most of the projects are fairly straightforward. Two glass towers and a glass bridge, a round excavated fortress with quarters, noble quarters, all the usual amenities, and an assortment of survival elements - protected fresh water supply, obsidian farm, very large above and below ground farms. Everything is designed around circles because magma pipes always make me think of circles (and I have a handy circle script).

The megaproject was the elimination of the majority of the aquifer from the map by excavating and then collapsing almost the entire embark level 4 z-levels down. This leaves a 5-wide path around the perimeter of the map and a round central platform housing the fortress. A glass bridge extends over the top of the collapsed region from the map edge to the fortress. Yes, I dug the place out again...

11 fatalities (of varying sorts), 15 artifacts, 48 miners (not quite all legendary, but a hell of a lot of them are), no dead nobles (by design), no dead diplomats (by design).

The upload contains a save from right when the lever is ready to be pulled collapsing 45,000 tiles. Be prepared for the game to lock up for at least 5 minutes when you do.

You need to zip up the folder before you can upload.

On a Mac, you just right click and select 'Archive'. On Windows you need to install a zip utility. There are a bunch of free ones you can download - WinZip and 7-Zip are both pretty popular.

I'll remind/ask people to remember that these have to be judged - so anything you can do to help that process will be appreciated. Esp pointing out details, labeling of one form or another, explanations of insidious devices, whatever.

Good luck to all!
