A short while ago, a fey mooded hauler (I forbid all logs when he went fey as I don't wan't a woodcrafter, plus I'm on a desert map and trees are almost as precious a resource as water) went beserk, ran around, killed a kid, then kicked a puppy to death, and then killed a pet dog which had just grown up, chased and killed a forgeworker, then chased a bunch of dwarves into a dead end. I recruited all of them and they tore him apart until he bled to death.

I didn't look at anybody's wounds, so there are no specifics.

In other news, wall construction for the warehouse storage sections has begun, officials say that such a setup theoretically will help pathing and FPS in the future.

Mules don't breed, so I don't have to work about gender management to avoid unwanted offspring, thus making them ideal as frequently slaughtered watch-animals to be chained up outside.

A gobbo wrestler was separated from it's squad and reaches the watch-animals well ahead of it's peers, only to get the stuffing beaten out of it, and sent crawling away in shame.

Another gobbo is even less successful upon meeting their replacements a year later, when it is Mule-Kicked into the weapon traps, and proceeds to explode in gore.

I built an airlock, as it were, with drawbridges, to make trading safer (I can keep all the interior doors shut with the depot outside, then close the outer and open the inner). An elven caravan waltzed in. I decided I didn't want to trade, so I left the outer door open.

A goblin ambush proceeded to slaughter the caravan, so I took all their stuff.

I accidently mined the wrong block (it was off by one square), it opened a hole in my underwater fort that couldn't be fixed.
It flooded the gate control room.
All airlock doors were sealed, but I couldn't get the floodgates to close.
I was also unable to access my stone stockpile.
Or food
Or booze.
It's a goner.

Old Fort:

Using a pit entrance (very long moat) I managed to trap the orc siege and kill off most of it. The stuck human caravan was getting pretty antsy and wanted to leave. Plus I was out of all siege ammo and didn't want to put down a temporary catapult. So down the bridges came and out went the wagons. They trampled over the orc siege that was crossing the bridge. When it became clear the wagons weren't going to kill all the orcs I ordered the bridges to retract again and down they went orc and human alike. The pits weren't deep yet so they were just wounded and stunned. The humans then finished off most of the orcs (but lost almost all merchants and all the military) and I picked off the last few with my untrained archers. There was blood, corpses, and items strewn everywhere around my entrance. It was glorious.

New Fort:
I'm building up a military compound, most of my dwarves are recruited to the military except for a skeleton crew to support them. So far I have 1 marksdwarf who took out 2 orc sieges singlehandley (no snipers so I locked them out and picked them off). My champions are are super-dwarvenly and a few managed to tear apart some orcs that made it in before I could lock the door. I've also struck adamantine on the base level of my fort (no HFS yet) with my original 7. It's all lining up to be quite Fun. So far no disabling sparring accidents so far. I had one dwarf get a dark brown spleen liver and 1-kidney (or maybe stomach). He puked, then shrugged it off, grabbed some booze, and went back to training. Not to mention this happened to him by a WRESTLER since all my melee dwarves are as of yet unarmed.

Trapped half a goblin siege in an area carpeted with green glass spikes. They were not too good at dodging.

A bit earlier today, a squad of 5 champions destroyed a human siege with nary a scratch or any help. Just hammers, steel armor, and good ol' Dwarven grit.

Had a baby get under my water wheels and die; may have been a suicide (mom die in a sparring accident last year).

Dad is still ecstatic.  He may have killed mom.

The cats brought in enough vermin remains to cloud over half the fort with stink.

1 champion with a hammer vs 15 goblins. he'd wandered over to his old station while the rest of the squad was by the door. i resigned myself to his loss.

1 minute later

13 gobbos are dead, and the other 2 are running for all they're worth. his wounds
not even slightly tired

why did i order my dwarves inside for that?!

A drafted trader shot 14 orcs with +Adamantine Bolts+. Then an orc sniper walked up to the forification and shot him in the face. Then the king arrived.

Just finished the olivine surface walls and rhyolite wall grate portcullis after digging the moat, attached the portcullis to a lever in my dining hall, created 324 tiles of farm spread across 36 3x3 farms, got pig tail, quarry bush and plump helmet production up and running, the cook's flyin' at 'er, and now to make a road for traders. Embarked with 300 booze and 175 food - should be sufficient for a while. No migrants yet, but no sieges yet, either. Only the dwarven caravan has shown up so far, but the depot is inaccessible due to SO MANY TREES. Mountainhome also has no bauxite. This displeases me.

Breached the HFS in the first summer (completely by accident), a metric butt-ton of Groundhogs came out. That Autumn Cave Crocodiles came to trade with me, and that winter i was sieged by Spirits of Fire.

Now i need to go hunt down the duplicate entry i ovbiously added in with the last round of modding.

A snatcher got spotted in the kids dormitories by the sheriff and managed to escape with his victim through a hole in the roof where a lookout tower was being constructed overhead to prevent such things from happening.

edit:
Personally was just accosted by terrible vermin! ]
It bit my tongue. (Shouldn't have tried to french kiss the vermin, but ....ow.)
