I experienced an earthquake once, nothing happened.

Seattlite speaking.

I'm not too worried. Obviously, a 9.0 earthquake is going to mean refugees and chaos. But it's not the same as it would be in a lot of other places; the building codes here are really strict. We had a 4.something in 2001 and most people were back to their lives the next day. Less a couple years ago meant minor structural damage for people who were effected at all. Besides, my house is in converted swamplands anyway.

Oh, and if you're visiting, get the huge donuts in Pike Place market.

Lastly, when you refer to them as 'the Adams brothers' the Adams Family theme song immediately creeps into my head...

I don't think comparing a 4.0 to 9.0 is very reassuring.  The scale is logarithmic, not linear.  That giant tsunami in Indonesia that fucked up the entire Indian Ocean?  That was an 8.5.  9.0 has 5 times the energy of that.

I sleep through 4.5's.  5.0 - I noticed the trembling. 6.0+ Scary as hell. Thank god I don't live on the coast. I do live near it - but on the otherside of a hill range (rather large hills).

Are you referring to the Nisqually Quake?  That was a 6.8, which is much bigger than a 4.  Still, I was riding a motorcycle with my father when it happened, and we didn't even feel it. :P

A 9.0 is probably going to punch building safety protocol in the groin and sleep with its mother.  That's some serious earthquake right there.  I hope Toady isn't eaten by the earth.

Yes, I realize 9.0 is a fuckload. Still, this is a well-prepared zone. If nothing else, Obama will won't want to like like Bush when he dealt with Katrina. :)

Well I would gladly take up arms and join the Adams brothers fighting in the pits of hell to get DF v1.0.

When the earthquake hits, it'll be coming in a wave, as it reaches the adams residence, the two brothers, who are standing outside, clasp a warhammer together. The wave retreats. Into Crossbow range.

Theirs is the hammer that will pierce the heavens.

I was mucking around on a beach when I felt my first earthquake. It knocked me flat. It was something about a 4.0 as well, I believe.

Man, I can barely remember it, but I was playing in my sandbox in Wellington at the age of 3, I think. My mom rushes outside and screams

"Jack O'Mally, age 265 currently residing on Mars!" Or something to that effect. "Are you okay?"

How is it I barely noticed a 2.5? Seriously, the fridge was halfway across the freaking room.

Maybe it has something to do with epicenters or seismic waves or some other gobbledy-gook.

All I know is that afterwards I spent ten minutes crouched under a doorway to make my mom calm down.

Must have been annoying.

Anyways, should the earthquake happen, we all know that, as in Katrina, where thousands of volunteers flocked to their favorite places and reopened them within months, we must do the same in order to ensure the coming of our Holy Grail.

Ha, you guys and your earthquakes.  There are technically earthquakes where I live, but I've never felt a real one, just very slight shudders in the ground occasionally.  Even those make the news though, and everyone's like "ololol i survived the ohio earfquake im so funy"
