Or, you know.

Use a hammer.

But the hammer is too wide! It won't fit lodge in the wound...

Or, you know.

Use a hammer.

But these weapons aren't the hammer.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

I once got my trident stuck in my opponent's head (modded weapon). Twisting it didn't kill them instantly, in fact I had to do it for about a minute before they died.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

I'm trying to imagine how you would twist a trident in a wound.

I wish you could grab on to an embedded weapon and start twisting it.  I like to throw my spear at targets, and then engage them.  Maybe I should just get two spears.

I just get a bunch of spears (About ten) and use them as javelins.

The iron battleaxe is Armok's intended throwing weapon.

Must be simillar to eating spaggethi. Just with guts instead of spaggethi.

Twisting the trident, latching on the guts, pulling them out and eating them raw, like the good elf you are.

Well, you could, but would you like to eat unleavened eggs, flour and water?

You can never pull out on time, no matter how hard you try. So it's wise to use some protection.

yea you can, its just more likely you won't.(and yes, i know that was a sexual reference)

Before time? Of course.
A tad bit late? sure.
But on time? Impossible! Technically you can pull out just on time of the event, but still danger exists. And what about the thing that comes before? You never know or feel when it comes.
Therefore, please protect your spear or at least bring a spare one.

A spare spear? I thought every lady had one of those tucked away in her cupboard.

I think you might be mistaken, unless you're referring to elf females. Dwarves have a battle axe, and humans have a sword or really long dagger.
