Would the excrement serve as a way to decrease the freezing point?

Eurgh. The only water left unfrozen might be your own crap.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.

Mining frozen sewage and then building things out of it (like ice into "stones" of water).

I don't actually have any idea were to go with this... it's walls made of crap.. and then you can engrave.. it.. oh oh sweet armok what was I thinking.

Suddenly that engraving of Urist McMayor being elected doesn't seem like such an accolade. Maybe Urist McEngraver is trying to tell you something...

A sewage system I can agree on, as wel as many other uses for the poo except for building walls… ect.
Disease due to poo lying around in corridors can be fun.
Filling a moat with poo and drowning invaders with it can also be fun.
Building a stonefall trap with a large bag of poo instead of a rock is fun.
Building walls or whatever with poo is just plain stupid.

You can build walls of frozen water, what's so wrong with frozen poo?

Obviously not on the top of my list of most wanted features but I would enjoy designing the sewers. Goblins could even taint your water supply with it or it could be used to taint the spikes found in the bottom of pit traps much like they have in real life. One other use for excrement of course would be fertiliser.

Personally I don't understand why people don't want this added to a text based game which already includes an assortment of disgusting bodily fluids. Managing it could be as simple as making some buckets and a refuse stockpile. Admittedly I'd like to see better sanitation possible first but that's coming.

I kinda like the idea of having a stable with horses and cows and such and a dwarf with animal caretaker skill being the one who cleans up after them.

Waste disposal and ventilation issues should add a lot in terms of challenge. However, it doesn't necessarily need to be dwarves/animals pooing. For instance, workshops could produce waste, which would need to be disposed of in the same manner as dung. I think this would not offend people as much as excrement ideas seem to.

EDIT: A good already implemented example is rotting chunks from butcher's workshop. There could also be waste water from metalsmithing and tanning, which would have to be channeled away (via sewers) or hauled away in buckets (for those who do not want to bother building sewers).

Tanning of hides is done in feces and urine, if I recall, so that would make tanning limited to your outtake of bodily fluids.  So sewers for some toilets and tanks for others.

I'm sorry if it seemed like I got carried away with my suggestion, but I was primarily building on the idea that most creatures could be affected by disease.

Diseases, mutations, curses (magic), even things like birth defects (look at little Urist McDwarf, he's got 6 toes!) would be interesting.

Poop, I'm not so sure. I think the game is fine without it, and I wouldn't want to have to build a sewage system every time I play. Not a bad idea though, and maybe it could work.
