I don't really mind too much. If you've got a good reason I'll extend it to Friday.
(You have a good reason.)

Sweet. (to spoiler)

My annoying relatives will be gone tmrw so I will be able to finish. And you won't run away screaming either. Before I even finish, I will list some things that need to be done:

1. If I dont, BREAK THROUGH THE DAMN AQUIFER. (related to two)

2. Find a source of rock. 'nuff said.

3. Get a military (I keep having to re-activate Sythun and some random peseant every time a skele sasquatch shows up. Hammers work pretty damn well...)

4. Build some defenses. All we got defendin the dwarves is a single set of double doors. You can just use ice because it is fucking everywhere.

5. Find a way to fuel some forges. We need metal. (either coal or wood)

6. Don't die.

They're actually a special ore. Instead of being mined, they're hunted from between the trees and instead of producing metal, they produce food: rhesus pieces.

Ice is ghey.

I wasn't able to finish the last little bit of my year, so here is my mid-autumn save.

I downloaded the file.  Everything looks fine, except the date is 1st Granite (early spring) 178.  And we only have the starting seven (five of whom are still alive).  Did you, perhaps, upload the beginning of your year rather than the end?

Sweet, im TOTALLY not dead yet!
I dont think there's Magma...Theres not to many tree's either is there? We are going to need to start requeesting Tree's in bulk from the Human and Dwarven caravans...wish you could burn wooden weapons then the elves would inadvertently help us as well

How far down have you dug? Somewhere under all that ice there HAS to be SOME rock...That would let us make a small stream of tradables to barter with the caravans and get the supplys we need

Journal of 'Tony' Kodendodok, Bone Carver and resident of Murderletter:

1st of Limestone
It's been crazy around here! I'm REALLY thirsty, there's no way to melt the ice to get some water, and farming is yielding little results, so the brewers have nothing to brew. When we do grow something, the person carrying it back usually eats it on the way, so we still have nothing to brew!  Oh, Zalud, I would do anything for some dwarven wine right now...

4th of Limestone

12th of Limestone
The traders arrived today, it's too bad we don't really have much to give them. I wish I could be part of things, you know, talk with the liaison, make deals with the traders, but no, I have to haul trade goods back and forth.

13th of Limestone
There are a bunch of dwarf  bones in the middle of the floor in the barracks, I have no idea what they're doing there, but they're creeping me out!

27th of Limestone
A skeletal sasquatch! I've heard that they're around these regions, but I've never seen them until now! It's headed towards the trade depot! I hope nobody else dies!

28th of Limestone
The guards at the depot took care of it with hardly any struggle, wow, from what I've heard these things were pretty badass.

5th of Sandstone
It looks like we traded a bunch of doors and clothes for some stone blocks, a steel pick and all of the food and drink the traders had. It's good to know that I'll be fed for a while.

23rd of Sandstone
We broke through the aquifer! With Taco Dan's method, we finally got through. Here's to the dining room we'll soon be getting!

27th of Timber

Damned miasma! Is nobody moving refuse? Progress on the dining room is slow, mainly because nobody is making the tables. It can't be that hard, can it?

18th of Moonstone
Still nothing is happening.

23rd of Moonstone
The first table is done!

4th of Opal
The dining room is almost done, we got most of the tables and chairs, in and now we need to put in the doors.

20th of Opal
Nothing of interest is happening.

23rd of Opal
Nothing's still happening, so Sythun had and idea, we build a tower of ice! I think it's crazy, but I'll go along with it.

2nd of Obsidian
We're making a tunnel to go underneath the tower to get in. Here's the first floor under construction:

13th of Oblivion
The tower is getting built really quickly, I'm surprised.

Uploading the save now.

Notes for other people:
-We have three people in the army, they must be trained.
-The tower should keep being built, especially when nothing's happening.
-If you don't know how to build a tower, here's the wiki: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Mega_construction
-Keep farming.
-Keep digging.
-The aquifer is still somewhat there even though there's stone, dig deeper.
The save: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=1367
Also, I want to upload a map to DFMA but I'm not sure how to use the site.

Looks like I'm next, then.  I'll get started on it sometime today.  The DFMA is pretty easy to use - after you've converted your bitmaps to .fdf, go to the Upload map link on the sidebar and enter the relevant information.  I could never get it to actually upload anything until I registered with them, but it was a fairly painless procedure.  (Of course, maybe you've already discovered all this, in which case here it is again.)

Also - If you'd like to claim a dwarf, Naxza, we've got 14 to choose from, with more ready to be eaten by sasquatches arriving in the spring.
