The whole point of the movie was to adhere STRICTLY to the script

Ohh goodness... Just be glad it wasn't Hamlet.

Depends on who plays Hamlet, honestly. ;)

Wait, wait, let me clarify here.  It's not that there was a sex scene, or even that it was a gay sex scene - I wouldn't have so much as blinked at that, it's normal.  The thing that caught me off guard was that it was a typical softcore PORN scene - complete with porno music!  We're not talking "sex scene" here, we're talking they injected what is typically thought of as "pornography" at random places in the movie.

This also wouldn't have surprised me if it were a sci-fi movie about aliens or something, where this type of thing seems fairly common.  It's the fact that it was Edgar Allen Poe!  Why would anyone ever think to tie Poe with gay porn?  Or straight porn for that matter?

There is actually an entry for the movie at IMDB.  You can get all the info there.  If you read the synopsis, you'd never guess what the movie is really like.  On the other hand, if you look a little further down the page you might chance upon keywords like "gay softcore" which are a bit more of a giveaway.

Ahhh.... You mean with the bow-chicka-wow-wow music?

(I stand by what I said about Hamlet, however.)

I wouldn't associate Poe with anything sexual. He never had kids and had a bad track record when it came to marriage (and the guy ended up marrying his 13 year old cousin, or something). Also his poetry and stories are mostly about the dankness in the brain, that musty smell it gets when it hasn't been aired out for a while.

I am curious, now, as to exactly how badly they defiled "The Fall of the House of Usher". ;D

Is this just a movie poster, or does the DVD cover look like this too? Because it seems like manflesh was their main selling point, really.

I didn't actually have a case for the movie, so I didn't see that image until after I had seen the movie and was trying to figure out what had happened.  You have to admit, "Edgar Allen Poe's House of Usher" doesn't quite sound like a porno flick!

I don't like the sound of this movie.

Speaking of failure to modernize the dialogue, though, has anyone seen the Leonardo DiCaprio version of Romeo and Juliet?  Where they shoved the almost completely unaltered plot into modern day Florida?  Romeo is arrested for killing Tybalt and banished from the city without due process, under penalty of death, in modern America.  Juliet is interred without being embalmed.  There was other stuff too.

I vaguely remember my mom mentioning this version of the Fall of the House of Usher though.  She said it was a really bad adaptation.

I might have.  The movie I saw pretty much from what I am guessing had them talking like how Romeo and Juliet was written (which didn't even sound right in that setting) and ended with them both still dieing (it might have been different, I'm not sure) while in a confrontation with the police.

I agree, "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym" would've been a much more logical choice.

Yeah, I referred to it as the Baz Lurhmann (director) version.

Heh, that sounds kinda like the Baz Luhrmann edition of Romeo and Juliet, except the latter didn't fail. Actually, it was pretty funny, but the good parts don't seem to be on Youtube.

That's because youtube blocks nudity. Unless it's 2d or snuck into something in a not very noticeable way.

The only surprise "porn" scene I can remember was in Evil Dead, of all places. I believe that's the correct movie.

Let's just say that the vines had some fun with one of the helpless females.
