They are not far worse than regular.

IMHO the biggest threat in haunted/terrifying maps are undead pack-creatures (IE: undead muskoxes) because on top on their undead tag, there are a lot of them.

Have to agree with you there. I didn't think terrifying maps were that bad until my embarking group was destroyed by a pack of skeletal muskoxes, or something like that. My two axedwarves didn't stand a chance...

More than two-thirds of the terrifying maps i embark on have no undead at all, and the ones that do have undead almost always turn out to be zwombies. It's been so long since i saw a skeletal anything :(

The time I got destroyed the only monsters nearby were the skeletal fire imps.
The animals arrived at some point and decided to evict me.
