Raptormod: The nightmare has begun

They feel no fear, no pain, no sympathy
They run faster, strike quicker than the mightiest warrior
They can open doors
They have come to feed on succulent dwarf-flesh



So I went and modded raptors into the game. Not the 3-foot tall things you find in museums, but the utterly evil, hyperintelligent monstrousities from Jurassic Park. Raptors being raptors, each is a dwarf-killing machine, using its deadly toe-claws to pierce vital organs and its teeth to rip off limbs and heads. While they cannot wear clothing, natural armor more than compensates for this.

They can also easily outrun any dwarf, and will send ambushes to pick off unlucky civilians and caravans.

Should you defeat them, there's the advantage of there being no clothing and armor to clean up, reducing hassle for your now-greatly reduced population.

So I was building up my defenses in peace minding my own business, right, and suddenly OH GOD RAPTOR AMBUSH 20 RAPTOR WRESTLERS ASKDASKDAS RAISE THE BRIDGE OH GOD TOO LATE WHAT THE HELL THEY KILLED THE LEGENDARY SWORDSDWARF CAVE-IN CAVE-IN OH GOD 5 DWARVES LEFT

Is the race or a monster?

What are their traits.
Do they have graphics?

It is a race of raptors who will siege your fortress. They have damaging attacks, high damblock, SPEED:450, and can open doors. Fear them.

They're so stealthy! I planned my fortress inside an hill protected by river on two side (The riverbed is two z-level below the surface, so no simmer can go trough) and then removed every single ramp on the third side, leaving only two long hallways.

I was then busy training my military and growing turnips on the top of the hill (I wanted a perfect fortress underground, without trace left of early barracks) when "Raptor Ambush"! Fuck, one raptor in the northern hallways! quick, get my militia! While I was touring my fortress checking that the civilian were safe, I saw that there was 14 fucking raptors on my hill! The somehow managed to go trough the 3-wide hallways without hitting anyone!

Well, one the bright side, the consequent carnage was entertaining.

The [AMBUSHPREDATOR] tag causes sieges to start out stealthed, so raptor sieges and ambushes differ only in scale. Removing the tag should make siegers visible. If you want to remove ambushes,, try removing the [AMBUSHER] tag from entity_raptor.txt

"Beak dogs" are already large, JP-sized raptors, though.

Hm.  Have the raptors use evil animals, and you might end up with raptors riding raptors!
