Perhaps the secret is that you don't have any.

WRONG. This is the secret of Steel: Steel isn't strong, boy, flesh is stronger! Contemplate this on the tree of woe.

I've generated a world with a human kingdom and a goblin civ next to eachother, not exactly sure on the goblin name, but it was something like this:

The Realm of Emancipation.(Human)
The spires of Oppression. (Goblin, not sure on the name, it was something like that.)

Unfortunately, worldgen had stopped before they gone to war.

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?
(Full frontal ones, apparently.  With very short beards.)

No one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts.

Steel you can trust.

If only it weren't so darned secretive. Maybe if you got to know your steel better, it would give up the game? :D

The thing that confuses me about dorfs is this. Dorf 1 dies in an avalance or somesuch. Dorf 2 is friends with dorf 3 and dorf 1. Dorf 2 berserks because of his friends death and kills dorf 3. also a friend. W. T. F.
Clearly you've never been drunk.

In my attempts to create Gearmaze, the first failed because I didn't know how to use mechanics, the second one failed because I didn't get my farms set up in time and everybody starved, the third one failed because I flooded to world (some would probably consider that a success), and the fourth one failed because of a tantrum spiral due to the dwarven justice system.
That name is just pure bad luck.
There were never mazes of gears.

Actually, magma would kill the problem.
