Ah!

But new studies show that our world is actually not flat, no but round- like a holed donut!

Yay, I got sigged!

Alright. World's flat. Pay up!
if it was flat I could walk off it. Its more "Confined on the bottom of the inside  of a cube."

We'll need to wait for climbing in adventurer mode to fall off the edge, then. I'm assuming that the edge of the world is, in fact, merely walled off, meaning that you could climb to the top and jump into outer space HELL.

Only if you have a Dwarf Fortress Gold Account... ;)

Yes, I know, more likely to attract flame than any racial slur I can think of. But I had to say it.

BOTTOM OF THE INSIDE. Which should mean that when climbing hits, we'll just hit the edge, climb up a world maps worth of wall, then hit a ceiling.

Or, the cube is made up of 6 DIFFERENT world maps.

the sky should fall on every ones heads when the world ends.

elves first since they live in tree tops

dorfs thru their sheer cunning of living under ground would survive.

also z levels should go down far  enough for the dorfs to tunnel out the bottom

You are now making bottomless pits.
Manually?

Not necessarily bottomless, that depends on the windspeed.

(Now you're thinking with portals)

It would be interesting if Toady made the world round that occasionally if someone fell down a chasm or bottomless pit, they would sometimes randomly fly out of another chasm or bottomless pit. It would be interesting to go through Adventure mode and see one of your old champions killing pit creatures miles away from your original fort.

They would be more like worm holes then pits then.

Hopefully in the future walking off the edge of the world will cause a 30 z level fall onto an obsidian island completely surrounded by magma and inhabited by HFS

THIS.

It would actually be pretty cool to have a "hell" that you could tunnel into, wouldn't it? The HFS we have now is just a special tile that spawns demons. I find that rather... underwhelming. How about adding a whole underground realm populated by demons (and made of super-precious and resistant materials and possibly even featuring its own flora) that you could tunnel into? And the HFS could try and tunnel upwards once in a while. The map feature we have now could be one such attempt, an unfinished shaft to which you could relatively easily connect from above, with the real demon realm much further down. The ultimate dwarven challenge: Dig all the way to hell. Then conquer it.

Conquer it without using babies as shields for an added challenge
