this concept... You guys have heard the rumors, the poor footage, and the Pop-Up Ads:
DOPPELGANGERS ARE AMONGST US! And they are invading your town right now! Protect yourself! Buy this "10-Step Guide to Setting Up A Lynch Mob" Today!
But is this true? You gather together, and watch each other carefully...looking to find out once and for all.
*If Doppelgangers exist, about 1/4 of the players are Doppelgangers. The rest are humans or Third-Party Roles.
*If the Doppelgangers don't exist, all are humans or Third-Party Roles.
The goal of the Humans is to correctly determine if Doppelgangers exist.
The goal of the Doppelgangers is to convince the Humans that the Doppelgangers do not exist.
Third Party Roles:
---Conspiracy Theorist: You know that Doppelgangers aren't real, but you need to offload the excess inventory of alien abducations. You win if at least three Humans believe that the Doppelgangers are real.
---FBI Agent: You know that Doppelgangers are real, but you do not want to cause any sort of panic. You win if at least three Humans believe that Doppelgangers are not real.
---Dopp Hunter: You do not know if Doppelgangers are in fact real. However, you arrive here anyway, in hopes of finding proof. Every night, you may snatch someone, removing you and that person from the game. If that person you kidnap is a Doppelganger, you win. If you survive to the end of the game without snatching anyone, you only win if there are no Doppelgangers at all.
---The Joker: You want to die, but you want everyone else to suffer along with you. Your goal is to cause a mislynch that will cause everyone else to lose. You do not have to be lynched.
---The Politican: You know that politics is a popularity contest, and you intend to win it. Every day, your victory condition is randomly selected between Conspiracy Theorist and FBI Agent. You win when you acheive your victory condition.
---Cultist Leader: You realize that people will turn to religion in times of stress, so why not let them turn to the Great Old Ones for protection? Every night, you may attempt to recruit a person. If you recruit a Doppelganger or a Third-Party Role, you and your fellow Cultists will be Night-Killed. Otherwise, if you recruit a Human, they join up with your Cult. You win when 3 Humans are a member of your Cult. If you are NKed, you die and lose, but your fellow Cultists will remain to carry on your legacy.
Lynching:
During the day, the Town may vote to lynch someone. Only Human votes count. If a majority of the people would to lynch someone, the following happens:
a) If the Town lynches a Human or a Third-Party, the Lynch Mob is guilty of
MURDER! The Federal Government will arrive and arrest all concerned.
Everyone loses, except for The Joker.[/b]
b) If the Town lynches a Doppelganger, all Humans wins and all Doppelgangers and Third-Party Roles lose.
The Town may also vote to No Lynch, which will advance to the night.
Night:
If Doppelgangers are real, they decide via a vote who gets to be Night-Killed. They may not NK any of their own.
If Doppelgangers are fake, a random person is NKed.
Endgame:
After three days, all Humans vote.
If Doppelgangers are real:
a) All humans who guess that the Doppelgangers are real
wins.a) If more than half the Humans guess that the Doppelgangers are real, Doppelgangers
lose. Otherwise, Doppelgangers
wins.
c) All humans who guess that the Doppelgangers are not real
lose.
If Doppelgangers are false:
a) All humans who guess that the Doppelgangers are not real
wins. All other humans
lose.
