The Washed Pulleys
« on: August 12, 2009, 02:14:39 am »

First autumn. I've built a small aboveground fortress with two entrances. One entrance is moderately trapped, the other is completely open, albeit further away. The Shade Elves (Assorted Sillines Mod, link in sig) attack, via the undefended entrance, appearing in my stairwell two levels down. They maim my woodcutter a bit (he managed two brown wounds against a single wrestler, despite the fact he was the only one with a proper weapon) before I activate my entire fortress of seven.

Those seven accounted for eleven Shade Elves- four of them swordshades, clad entirely in steel with Poncium Steel (200% damage) longswords.

I lost two dwarves- the afore mentioned woodcutter, and my much-loved mason. One surviving dorf leveled up to Wrestler in the battle.

None of the kills were caused by traps.

Now, I know there are plenty of 'awesome thing one dwarf did' threads out there, but I'm not so sure that there are any 'holy crap my ENTIRE FORTRESS BEAT THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF SOME INVADERS DESPITE SERIOUS SETBACKS!' threads.

Oh, and there are two heavily injured dwarves still alive.

Oi, that's awesome.

At first I was all like, pssshhh, they're just elves.

Then I said, "ELVES WITH STEEL WEAPONS OH NOOOO."

Seven untrained dwarves against eleven war-elves isn't half bad.

I was more fascinated by the cat in your avatar picture.

Moreover, elves with DAMBLOCK:4 or something. And not steel weapons- steel ARMOUR, with better-than-steel weapons =/

Also, after I'd decided to abandon, I discovered that I'd caught some unicorns, which had been the point of the fortress anyway :'(

And yes, that cat is awesome.

Is that cat real or some kind of video editing? It's...creepy.

This is the first thread I've seen on its way to derailment because of an avatar.  :o

Train that cat into a war cat. Creep out invaders at first glance.

No muss, no fuss. It should be equally entertaining as disemboweling them. Especially when they're hypno--
