Isn't a single pokehole enough to render a lung entirely useless for its purpose?

As for the rest of the points, I concede them. I am, at best, the average bystander on a New York street when it comes to medical advice.

Edit: [This is where and when a fool had the unique experience of watching his foot enter his throat. May this be a lesson to him.]

It actually compromises both lungs. The pierced side hyperinsuflates and affects the other's ventilatory capabilities.
