Yes, Oldbeard says that we need these contraptions he calls "artillery" to start a war first. I think he's nuts.

I say that after we have a second city set up with defenses we build boats to send out to find new places to pillage.

Our scout has discovered another civilization, the Persians. They don't appear to have a religion either. Perhaps he will make another easy target for my scheme. Or maybe he will even be a future ally. His beard seems very respectable, so I will not go to war with him just yet.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

On a sadder note, it appears my rating as a civilization is quite low, maybe building this Dun was a bad idea. Back in Bay12, our elders have discovered the secrets of Polytheism, and are now researching Monotheism. It appears this polytheism is what allowed for the civilization elsewhere to discover Hinduism.

Ahhh, we have found our Hindu nemesis!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I think these Dutch foes will be the first to suffer before our wraith. But not yet, when we have more military, we will take the fight to their borders. I don't like the look of this Willem van Oranje, to me he seems the sort of person who would give little children sweets and lure them into his basement... I don't even want to think about what he does to them down there. He seems too friendly to be true.

A short while later, our scout stumbled onto a pride of lions and a jamboree of jaguars... We have yet to hear back from him.

Oldbeard thinks his beard is insufficient. There is only one way to fix this: FIRE!

Well, if you ever run into the Ottomans again, I say remain peaceful with them until we have a good opportunity to get revenge for what they did last time.  All who don't follow our religion shall parish!

The Dutch seem kind of far away. It might take a while to leverage our eventual military strength against them.

Great news everyone!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Our research into monotheism paid of, we have founded Judaism another means to collect money from the far reaches of the globe. With this discovery, we can now organize religion. I have told our elders to jump upon this opportunity as it allows us to build building 25% faster, this will greatly speed up the building of the Dun. I have told the elders to look into finding a way for faster transportation and a way to access these mines. They told me they would research a strange thing known as a wheel.
The Dun is finished! Work is now starting on a settler as we are in dire need of a second city. Where we place it I'll let the people decide. Should I put it closer to the french next to this stone? I feel this would make a nice area for a commerce city with access to the ocean for trading. Though that desert looks inhabitable.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Or to the south west, in the grassland between a jungle and some mountains, this location is quite a bit further away then the first but looks better for spreading out from, would be a rather balanced city with access to fresh water, mines and living space. Corn is also available, along with elephants.

From a larger view:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The yellow circle indicates area 1, the orange circle area 2. The purple line shows the last known boundaries of the french, the brown is our boundaries. The cyan arrow points to the Persians and the red to the Dutch.
If my minions can think of a better place, then they can suggest away.

Either one works, but if you plan on building it on the second one, it would be a good city to build military units out of since its close to all three of the other civilizations.

Do both. But settle the first one before the second.

Well this paints a grim picture of our future,
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ah well hopefully things will pick up when we settle our second city.
In other news, the research into a wheel has been completed and we can now build roads joining our precious resources to the city. Research has started on bronze working in the mean time. We will be clearing out the forests in no time, speeding along production of the settler.

The bronze working research is done and we appear to have a valuable source of copper quite close to Bay12. This will do wonders for our military. We have also adopted slavery which can be used to get production done much faster. Research has now gone into some more mundane things like fishing and after that archery then pottery.

Gah! Indian explorers have discovered our city! This Asoka looks like a peaceful person and a powerful if slightly beardless ally. Our religion must be spread to him so we can siphon off his funds.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Using slavery I hurried the production of the settler and am now deciding on where to let him build his city. I'm also in the process of building a Buddhist missionary to send to the other civilizations.

(OOC: I think I will take a break for an hour or two I need to get some study done for mid-term exams next week. The game will continue after that, this will also allow for more input as I'm probably taking this a bit too fast.)

The only reason I think we are listed on there as number 7 is because we don't have that many military units.  At least we are still stronger then a few other nations since there should be more then just seven.  Anyway, I still say we send some Dwarves out on boats to explore and find new lands to take/pillage.
