Lingered around SA, heard of Boatmurdered, read some of it not understanding a darn thing.
Tried it out, and it actually did initially scare the crap out of me. It was like a huge tidal wave of information hitting me at once; let's not forget the initial matrix-code hit. I even knew what to expect, at least graphics-wise, but crap; first playthroughs were intense!
I was turned away for a good amount of time until I read through Boatmurdered all the way through, and learned from some tutorials and buzzed through the wiki and got a tileset. Then I lost a handful of forts until I figured out what the hell I was doing. It also helped that I read through some other successions and saw some megaprojects and studied the developments over the course of time (provided the updates were in rapid enough succession (IE- Seasons, not years)) for better observations.
Damn, that's probably been the steepest learning curve I've been hit with since learning how to date, or at least how to obtain one.
But I suppose, like dating, damn well worth the time learning. Seriously, this is one of the best games I've ever played. I just wish it were easier to convince more people just how awesome it is. But, again, like dating, it's probably one of the most difficult things to teach, or convince just how good it is/can get.
Hell, this game taught me to have fun with failure/losing. If you know you'll have fun; HAVE FUN!
