Nice museum. I'd be worried about Urist McTourist jizzing all over the place from having so many happy thoughts at once though.
It's not like they're fertilizing trees to increase it's syrup output like elves do; in a similar manner in which they obtain wood from them.

:shudder:

How would you feel when you come across a ton of beauty all at once? Seeing as there are no bathrooms yet, where else can they go?

Collapse the trade depot into a room full of cage traps?

Or did you have a more traditional, conservative design in mind?  :P

That reminds me, I need to set up the lavatory in the residential area of my current fort.

Fortunately, it turns out the cave river is almost right below it, just off to the side a little.

This would be perfect for a museum/zoo hybrid

Oi, I thought the body-fluid talk was over! :o

You should try getting some rare animals off the elves and putting them down there as well.

Yikes, the Orcs have a nasty language.  Traditional foreplay would be right out for them; how would they ever "say my name" for one another?  No wonder Ocrs are always so bloodthirsty and violent, they're getting sub-par action.

Actually in DF it's called "Unknown Substance".

You could take down the glass windows so that your dwarves could admire the artifacts. Of course, this would mean stationing some military dwarves as museum guards.

Also, it would be AWESOME if (after a major remodeling) you could put a waterfall in the middle.

Or, if you don't want to be that elaborate, you could install some misting machines. See the wiki here to see what I mean.

This is going in my current fort. I'm building workshops off the wings of the triple-wide hallway, with a waterfall from the dining hall's drain in the center. The water just hits the floor in the middle and runs down through grates to channels, which in turn lead into the throne room, drop down one more level on each side of the throne, and finally drain out the sheer cliff face. Now to wait for artifacts...

Even if you have dwarves decked out in cotton candy they will still have fun with clowns.

I currently have all my artifacts lining the hallway to my mayors rooms. After seeing this I think I'm going to move them somewhere a bit prettier.

do Dwarfs only get the happy thoughts from things that they path right next to or can they see a couple of spaces away?

How did you get them to put the artifacts in those spots?

Stockpiles probably. You just gotta muck with their settings and limit them by quality.

Aye, we are Armok, god of blood, evil, villager gutting, fortress building, legend making and elf thongs.

I took a leaf from this, recently, and set up a museum in the meeting area.
But stuck the jail in there as well, since they need fancy shit around and people to chat to.

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.
