I have no idea how this happened.

Random Number Generator occasionally throws you a curveball for the lols. That's why it's random.

I think I should mention that I hadn't actually added a mountain goat civ, and that this happened entirely by accident.

It was just a named mountain goat, it probably killed a few sentient creatures and became a known figure. It happens quite often.

There was an entire mountain goat civilization. This one fought during a colossus rampage... notice that it takes place in "The Least Hell," which was a dark mountain goat fortress.

Sounds like the ole "Cave Crocodiles live in houses" bug; usually means a duplicate entry.

So easy to stop, so hard to want to stop. I'm wandering about purring maggot fortress. Sounds fun. A fortress full of people milking themselves :D

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Sounds like you need to delete the contents of your data/objects folder, you move things around from file to file without deleting that and you'll get duplicates of things coming up.

Heck, it happened to me when I was testing my mod.

I tried to mod in wooden weapons through reactions, but ended up with the ultra-heavy version (via the bug previously mentioned). I then tried to backdoor it by modding in a new type of wood called ironwood that was made from a single log that could be forged into ironwood weapons, but that let me build picks on survival maps which I didn't want. Since I didn't want to delete and regen the world, I just deleted the reaction and figured the wood was worthless if nobody could create it, right?

Fall arrives bringing the dwarven caravan, and with them three wagons of ironwood cages, ironwood platemail, ironwood picks and weapons, booze in Ironwood barrels, ironwood bins of leather, not a drop of steel anywhere. Effectively, the mountanhome had become an elvish retreat filled with short beardies who don't give a crap if you sell them wood. At least the crappy armor was dwarf sized /sigh.

Yeah, I had a screw-up where lots of silk and leather bioled away, killing almost everyone arround...
There were also races of megabeasts, which was scarrier than hell...
However, the best part was the megabeasts were friendly, and they even let you take all their crap when the froze to death...you gotta love free stuff! One thing I noticed is items decorated with silk that promptly boils (like bows made of metal) will disappear along with their decorations...then you just had to take poor old Shmitty the Angel's steel bow to make up for it...

BTW, did I mention it was not vanilla?

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.
