Encrusted with Magnetite
« on: August 08, 2009, 12:54:35 am »

So the Dwarven traders just turned up with a Steel Crossbow encrusted with Magnetite.

Wat.

I thought you could only encrust gems? Have my Dwarves decided that Magnetite is now a Gem? (If so i completely agree.)

The crossbow is encrusted with Magnetite. Magnetite gets its name because it's magnetic.

A magnetic crossbow.

Sieze this item, and strike down thy foes with thy Holy Dwarven Railguntm.

Magnetic bolts would be more useful, seeing as all those Orcs are handily wearing steel armor.

Caravans can bring items that get decorated with materials that your dwarves cannot do themselves, outside of artifacts. Like you sometimes see a sword decorated with bands gabbro, or something like that.

I figured it must be something like that, but it sure as hell caught me off-guard; i'd never seen something encrusted with metal ore before.

I usually use magnetite and hematite for crafts (because there's always so bloody much of it)

But encrusting? That is awesome.

I remember seeing something that was encrusted with bands of loam in a previous version.
