Shoot the barrelsasteroids!

(is it possible to make asteroids explode more dangerously?)

There's three kinds of asteroids.
Background asteroids are just visual, they go behind your ship. They're dark colored.
Blocking asteroids go in front of your ship (cover it up) and absorb fire. They're light colored.
Moving asteroids hurt if they hit you, and when you shoot them they break into smaller asteroids. They also have no texture. I've deleted them all from the map because reflex activities like that in an RPLP is like me rolling a dice to see if you get struck by lightning and die (even if you have your amulet of shock immunity).

As for uploading sprites, I might do that. I've only made a few of course, ones I need for this. If I sit down and say "I'm going to make a sprite!" I immediately hit artist's block. I generally only end up thinking of something good when I have an idea as to what I want. That said, if you have a good idea, speak up.

I thought that I saw some blocking asteroids explode into small moving asteroids that didn't last long on account of being under bombardment at the time. I may have just missed a moving asteroid that was nearby or mistaken the exploding graphic for a moving asteroid or something, but I would suggest not getting right underneath a blocking asteroid that is severely damaged...

I think that happens occasionally too. At least it won't happen while I'm paused and assigning the move orders for six or more ships (moving asteroids don't stop when you freeze ships, and you can't give orders when you 'pause'). :)

I did, of course, upgrade it to leviathan-stomping proportions. On the downside (and yes, range and AI range are 3000) sometimes it wants to fire, and sometimes it doesn't...

Ships look weak enough. And, is that an exposed core I see on the station?

Now, if we were going to do this, I'd take our entire force, cluster it, and approach peacefully. If the station doesn't spin, we'd need to aproach from the side and mass our fire on the station's core. Once the station goes, we'd need to mop up the fighters.

Or, if there's any way to disable the mega beam without being beaten too bad, then take care of the fighters, we could probably take possession of the station for ourselves, which is what we're going for, I hope. Probably fan out in front of the gun, Ruperts' front and center, so we're not all hit with one shot, and hammer it all at once.

For my vote, fight if we can get into position without being fired on. If they're going to shoot at us the moment we move, get out of the system immediately before we're all killed. This is going to be iffy, even with proper placement.



NINJA EDIT: This is looking even worse now. Plan 1 looks like the only one that's not suicide.

Hmm... Perhaps we should open hailing frequencies that we area scout fleet from the Trekkie universe (although we obviously wouldn't CALL it that.) If they somehow are aware of us and ask for proof, we show them Wil Wheaton and burnt and mutilated remains of Welshy, who in his current state of disrepair might pass off as Scotty.

If this goes about as well as I think it will and they open fire, I say we board. We could use something like that, and considering we're the main characters I'm certain we'll take it, while in the process losing the brave young soldier who sacrifices himself to save his captain...?

Can I have CJ1145's spot after that 'main characters' theory is tested?

From what I have seen mega beams have quite a wide potential arc of fire, but if you can distract it with your deflectors and concentrate fire you can probably take it out pretty quickly, even if it does have 1000 HP...
What would really worry me is that thing on the far side, I have n idea what it is...

Arc of fire? I believe almost everything about weapons is moddable.

About half of the fighters you see are friendlies- X-wings, in fact. And yes, that is an exposed core.

And yes, almost every aspet of most weapons has been modded :)

Better hurry up and agree on a plan...

Hit the core from right side and hope the station is too slow turning to get a good shot at us. See if the friendlies will hold off the other fighters while we take out the station.
