Steal the gas, and anything else that isn't nailed down wherever the gas is. Extra points if we manage to steal the ship or building it's in as well.
Steal a entire building?

But that's pretty nailed down!

The carrier is hauling drums of compressed SBD- Ed from the diner managed to catch sight of it and tip you off. It's not heavily guarded, but reinforcements are probable. Also, the purple ships are spec ops- sorry, no cheesy alien story.

Anyway, you want a flamethrower. You know what to do.

The battleship will shred us if we fight it with it's escorts still alive. If at all possible, divide their forces while massing ours. Shouldn't be too hard because I'm betting the fighters will come right at us and outpace the bigger problems.

If an opportunity shows itself to catch one of the bigger ships outside of the battleship's covering fire, I'll be intercepting it. Shields, speed, and dakka should see me through.

Finish off the escorts, sticking to the side of the flamethrower ship, then send an away team to capture the ship. Make sure Wil packs his red shirt for the trip.

The augmented cruiser is by no means a pushover,but it isn't that scary,but yes,focus fire on the lighter ships and then tackle the bigger one.

Beware,last I remember the cruiser has a couple rear facing guns,so strafing isn't completely safe.

I move to rough up the fighters,then fire on the gunboat and beam ship,then focus on the cruiser.

The battle begins, you successfully draw the fighters away from the pack. Zorgn takes point and almost immediately scores a kill!


Diakron has been planting torpedos and presumably sniper fire (when he fires, you just see a ship explode for no obvious reason unless you're zoomed close in, and event then the shot is hard to see) on the exposed core of the Freighter, and destroys it. Only two cargo containers were destroyed prior; you have enough gas to probably sell for a profit.


You continue to fire on the escorts, and the Mauler positions itself broadside to the enemy. Its guns on the starboard are lost, but it still draws most of the fire.


There was loot, and it was good:

DAMAGE REPORT:
Some damage sustained. Since linking pics is a hassle, I'll pretty much only bother with specific information if someone takes notable damage. Today was a gank squad though; I'm still trying to figure out how to balance this crap.

LOOTZ REPORT:
You haul the canisters of SBD aboard your ship. Back at the base, Von Richtofhen seals it onto a pipe- as he does this, a barely audible hiss of gas escapes. The smell is unbearable. It occures to you that the entire science team is wearing their ear protection in their noses.

The cargo containers provide a large amount of suitable metal plating.

Shadowdump will have his flamethrower next mission.

I probably just need to set aside some time to do some battles and figure out what enemies I can put them against so that neither side will have sustained significant damage before I can tell my units where I want them to move. :)

If balancing is an issue, Zerg rush. Or reinforcements might warp in if we're winning too easily.

You can never have enough guns. We just don't have enough enemies.

He is having a hard time playing.  It's not unbalanced, he can't play it well enough.
