I'm getting my certification to teach English as a foreign language and am looking for a job for the coming school year.  I can definitely find work here (in Prague), but my dream is to live in Germany.  I know there are jobs, but finding them while I'm stuck here (til the end of the month) is tough going.  I wonder if I could ask any German residents to check the local papers for job openings for English teachers, or to give me the names of language schools in your area?  I am also looking for German to English translation work (I'm fairly fluent in German and a very good translator according to my last employer) and any other work I could do in Germany while trying to get a residence/work permit.

Unfortunately I am American, not an EU citizen, but I hear that the process for Americans isn't really any different in Germany.

Why would anyone dream about living in Germany? All they've got is Oktoberfest, autobahns, lederhosen, silly haircuts (with accompanying moustache, of course) and hour-long Jamba klingeltonen adverts.

I just like the idea of living somewhere both praised as a nice place to live and totally different. It'd be interesting to be immersed in another culture and I like German culture. I'd try China but I can't speak that shit. I tried, but hell no.

My German prof tells me that in Germany, education is subsidized by the government. They pay for your train rides. That is awesome.

Also it's very clean, at least in the pictures.

Well, that's not as bad, but it's still pretty high.

I spend maybe 150 pesos on train rides over a week.

That's the equivalent of 3 USD.

I heard foreign students have to pay for uni there. So I went to Australia. And found out that the fees here are higher than even the capitalist American ivy league unis

I heard living costs in Germany are high too. And unemployment is very high (but so are wages). Heard that you need some qualifications to get a job there too, at least a certificate for most simple jobs.

Education is subsidised by the government here in Britain too.  Education is free here (I believe it is in the US too).  The government here doesn't specifically pay for your train rides here, but you can apply for an "Educational Maintanence Allowance" (money for staying in education, basically).
