default off.
when on, weapon traps don't work with friendlies and goblin snatchers tell your babies bed-time stories instead of stucking them into the larder.

Reading the title, I take it that "lake" is a verb meaning either (1) "to put into a lake" or (2) "make a lake out of"?

If so, I don/t understand why either making a lake out of a dwarf or putting him in said lake would make goblin snatchers tell bedside stories to his bereft children? Do goblins have a cross-species support group for kids to laked parents?

Also, I agree. I'd like there to be an option to have traps still effect friendly outsiders. It makes it more challenging to create an impenetrable fort (that is, assuming you want caravans and migrants).

It also lets all those people who want to have brigand forts be direct about it.

Eventually we'll need civs to care that they keep losing lots of folks in your fort though, and maybe Toady wants to put traps back to how they used to be until then.

I don't care about goblin kidnappers though, kids are useless anyhow. Though on my last fort once they became adults they were a shoe-in for mayor. Standing in the meeting room for years doing nothing but talk made them perfect politicians. (Maybe that's intentional. Maybe it's also intentional that my Tax Collector was an ardent worshipper of the God of Lies)

Yeh, this thread is basicaly mocking people who say that traps shouldn't hit caravans, and that goblin  kinappers shouldn't kidnap...nd to this thread i say, hurrah you show them!

My child got ripped to shreds by invading goblins, which caused my wife to go mad and was shot down by the town guard for attacking the brewer and they both rotted before my eyes....

But dayyumm my room looks nice

Typo.

Anyway. DF should be harder. Right now it's just like carving through limestone with steel pick. Nethack has "ironman" mode. I'd really like to be able to turn difficulty up. But I understand that some just want to tinker with thei fortresses without worrying about security.

Yeah, this will probably be in when the game isn't in alpha.   Have some patience.

Patience does not pay off. I am a smoker and now I am not allowed to smoke in public places anymore. Why? Because I and my fellow poor oppressed souls did not go out and fight for our freedoms until it was too late and health nazis had the ball rolling.

I didn't say that. I said that they banned it because they are just ... evil. Hitler was against smoking too :D Churchill was never photographed without cigar..
