Round 5 of the Nerf Tournament
Hexed McSlasher, a noble farmer until the day he was afflicted with a terrible curse.  He now sees the world as his wheatfield, and everything is prime for the reaping.  Lightly armed and decently skilled, he cannot break the curse until his harvest is complete:

Master Squeak, the last soldier remaining from an elite fighting force.  It is said that they descended from Martin himself, but all that is known today is that 300 brave mice gave their lives to defend Reachwall from invading Covenant forces.  Modestly armed and moderately skilled, she fights to remember her comrades' sacrifice:

The poll's still kinda split on double elimination, so I'ma leave it running until the first tier has ended.  I'm only expecting about 10 more votes, tops.  If it still looks too even after that, I'll leave it up to who has the best argument.

Ryan would make an awesome fighter with more money. Awesome enough to challenge Ravus as his POLAR OPPOSITE?

I believe so.

Cool, I won. I was seriously not expecting that.

With the 400 turtles I won, I'd like a bronze platemail. Also, one point into Wrestler from the balance. Thanks. :D

Round 6 of the Nerf Tournament

Lead Head, a researcher in dwarven psychology.  He had nearly grasped why dwarves do not notice when they're on fire, and then his research grants ran out.  Highly skilled and modestly armed, he fights to pay off his departments or die trying.

After recommending amputations as the recommended treatment for everything from headaches to broken spines, Joe Fearless was named the "Murder Surgeon."  After his capture by the legendary town guards, he was released here to fight in Dwarf Memorial stadium.  Modestly armed, and modestly skilled:

Looks like axes are heavily underpowered because of their weight, they are twice as heavy as spear\hammer\mace and 2,(6) times as sword is. Upping their damage to 120 will do just fine, I think. A bit heavier than long sword, but one-handed.
Also, war hammers are technically maces with a changed name - maybe doing the same thing with them will make more amusing battles and more skill-based builds?

Does raw xp affect dwarf combat effectiveness? In the video, it appears that Lead Head's dwarf is the creator of a legendary artifact, which might have skewed the results in his favor.

Thief:"Quiet kitty, Qui-"
Cat:"THIEF! Protect the hoard from the skulking filth!"
The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

That wasn't a typo...

It was a joke.

I don't think overall level affects effectiveness.  All experience does is add attribute points, which I'm modifiying anyway.

There's always room for experimentation.

Having lower total exp would be better anyway, because with lower exp there would be a greater chance of a dwarf gaining an attribute mid-battle.
