Yes, the armor is of far much goodness.  I need to do more testing, but yeah, it'll be better.

I am very, very surprised.

The only way my dwarf was superior to Blast's was one more level in swords skill and two levels in wrestling, which may or may not have helped. Blast had a full suit of armor and a shield, as well as an iron mace.

When I made Ravus, I was expecting him to win maybe one round, then get smashed into a bloody pulp. I never expected him to win.

Org almost made it to the finals, and that was with only level 3 axeman and a steel battleaxe.

Obviously, the main problem is that armor was too weak.  I'm working on fixing that.

The second, more interesting problem is when a dwarf gets good enough at weapon skills, they can also parry and counterattack, even when prone, thus bypassing my attempt at keeping turtles at bay.

Ravus was just fast enough to get a good hit in, and could counterattack without a shield.  Add in armor that is heavy and weak, and Ravus was keyed in to win the Tourney.

In fact, Ravus is the whole reason I went and changed a bunch of rules.

So when's the deadline for people who haven't gotten back to you yet?

If I make it in to the next one, I'll go with:

L2 Speardwarf  300
L2 Shield User  300

Iron Spear     300
Steel Shield    360
Bronze Chain Mail   240

This Friday.  I'll start generating characters and (hopefully) finish testing over the weekend.

Hey? Do I have enough money left for a bronze helmet?

Truly, that was one awesome fight, and I loved the look on the martial trance.

Can't wait for round 2 to begin, and I am glad armor is being upped. Maybe I didn't waste so many turtles getting 4 ranks of armor user after all.

Crazy Chipmunk (wilsonns)
Conan (beanchubbs)
Phoenix Firesteels (Bloodbeard)
Ungol the Ugly (shackleton)
