After playing through fortress mode a little bit I get hit by these two ambushes containing Elf legendaries.  At first I didn't think to much about it, one of the elves group managed to kill my army and sneak into by base before getting shot by my last marksdwarf and then getting mauled to death by a dog.  And I was ready for the second elf, by the time he showed I had a formidable army.  But no, the thing that gets me is that when I went to check was it was carrying I noticed several pages of elf bone and leather trinkets.  So I went straight to the legends page to check these elves out and I noticed that while they were in service to the goblins these two elves have mass slaughtered there own kind.  This one elf managed to reach 200 elf kills by the time world gen ended, a measly 200 years, and this other elf I haven't checked yet but he already has 6 pages worth elf trinkets.  The best thing is, that the one who revealed these goblin ambushes was a elf caravan who then ended up getting slaughtered by these super elves.

Anyone else noticing any instances of these super elves?

I believe I have just found the reason.  A few seconds after I posted this topic I ran into the ruler of the goblin civ.  He was a legendary dwarf lasher.

Elves live forever (or at least a very long time) and if they join the goblins earily on they get a hell of alot of training before world gen ends so they reach legendary really easily compared to other races due to the really long life span. I had a elf civilization take over humans who had been captured by goblins and the elves took on the warlike nature causing them to have legendary soldiers for almost all of the military. It really sucked cause I was clear cutting.

Just go through, find, and destroy all the super elves in adventure mode. That way you'll be safe and you only wasted one tantrum-free life.
