Urgh, yes. Problem is that food gets stored in barrels, and dwarfs don't actually eat all that often.

My legendary carpenter's sole job is to constantly turn out barrels and bins.

Making lavish prepared meals helps, though: You cram more food into one stockpile space, and they usually don't go in barrels since hey tend to be in stacks larger than 15. But you definitely need dedicated food haulers or they'll rot.

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then you kill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

If you use "z" and visit the kitchen, are plump helmets listed as "brewable"?

Edit added: Well, feh. Note to self: reread threads you've had sitting around for hours before posting. :D

If you lack empty barrels because all of them are being used to store food, you may want to set all your food stockpiles to 0 barrels, and make separate stockpiles for booze only. Dwarves won't empty existing food barrels though, but at least newly created ones won't be hijacked by food haulers.

If he lacks empty barrels, then you read the last half-dozen posts... neither of which are the case, quite obviously.

If you have that many PH's, it's time to slow down farming.  Reduce the size of the plots, or the number of seasons planting - let it go fallow for one or three, or go into the wine export business.

Quickest way I've found to sort this out (if you can't build more barrels) is to set a number of reserved barrels in the stock<p>ile menu and then use the mass dump tool < d >-< b >-< d > to define dumping for many food barrels, then use the loo<k> and undump the barrels. This will put a dump order on the food inside, but not the barrels themselves. The dwarfs will grab the food and chuck it in the nearest dump site, leaving the barrels empty and useable by your brewers. Hopefully, having the reserved barrels will mean that your growers wont refill the damn things.

Well, it's fixed(i think), and i feel like switching back to the mayday graphics pack(it looks so good), and transfering the save(not sure how to add the pack to my normal df2 folder), i saw a topic about a program that could do this before, but i can't seem to find it. Anyone got software to do this?

It's easier to do manually. Copy your /raw/graphics/ folder for creature graphics, and /data/art/ and /data/init/ folders for tileset.

What is it? I know Mike Mayday did a popular tileset, but what is a "mayhem tileset"?

/data/init/ folders for tileset.

Wouldn't that be a bad thing to do if you were changing versions?

 I suggest reading: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Tileset
