Apparently by expanding in the gut, much like baking soda does for most birds. I want to buy a pasty and stuff it with baking soda to kill the local gulls. On the bright side, the gulls hang out in the same area as the scene-kids, so two birds, one stone of baking soda...

Their evil souls cannot handle the uncooked goodness.

Plus, they were probably chestnuts or something.  Those hellish spiked balls of doom.  It only makes sense that one evil would kill another in some kind of evil showdown.
