Does this mean there is nothing I can do to significantly help?

I still have my original Word files for the My Little Zombie Apocalypse turn updates. I didn't save the character data or the players' action posts. Just the results that I posted for each turn.

If anyone wants them just PM me and I can email them to you or whatever.

On the anniversary of its death you brought this thread back...
I wonder if that's an honest coincidence.

Timing's too off for it to be anything else.
He's off by exactly 11 hours, 21 minutes, and 31 seconds.

No, not at all. It was more like "Finally, only with the insanity condensed into 15 members instead of 200"

Well, look at that! There *IS* a zombie game in VN. Give me a few minutes to figure out how the old scripts work, and I'll get a copy of it.

(Forgot to post for a bit)

Well, the forum format has changed, and it no longer requires an ID in the URL(probably in a cookie or something), but I had to rewrite a regex and alter a string in the javascript, and by the time I finish writing this it will probably be through the posts... Nope, still ~60 out of 318 lines left. Last 10... Done, zipped, now to upload...

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?r13ai0gc59dgjqw

/[1-6].htm/ for a saved copy of the page, zombie.txt for an odd format like a hybrid of XML and tildes, containing the quoted post, before it was converted to HTML.

For those interested, the scripts involved are a perl script that opens a saved .html page and findss each post, recording it's ID, and outputting it as a list, like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Then some javascript(as it runs in a browser, and thus already has all of the cookies and authentication for the forum) quotes every post in the list. This requires being logged in to an account that can see VN, and is no different than using the "Insert Quote" links that appear while posting, except that you cannot open the post page and thus cannot access the quote links directly within a locked topic(unless it was locked while you were posting) apart from creating a URL for it by hand.

Edit:
For those of you who do not understand, /[1-6].htm/ is a perl regex that matches "1.htm", "2.htm", "3.htm", "4.htm", "5.htm", and "6.htm"

Well, if you want to do something yourself, here are a few things you can use:

First, right click->save target as, on the links to each page.

Then put them in a folder named "in", and in the folder containing it, put a perl script:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Use the following batch file (or command line command) to run it:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It will create a file called "out.txt" in the directory with the perl script.

Then, use this HTML/javascript page, (It only works in Internet Explorer, as some other browsers don't support cross-domain scripts, for security reasons, but don't give an override)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Paste the contents of out.txt into the top box, and click "quote". It will list how many lines have been parsed, and how many it has, total. There is an enforced delay of 200 ms between each line, plus any time required to retrieve the data from the forum. This is because I do not want to slow everyone else down *too* much.

Once it finishes, the lower text box will contain something like this fragment of real output:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Containing the post itself, exactly as you would get it in the non-WYSIWYG editor, if you quoted it. Plus a layer of XML around it, added by the forum software. Plus a few ~s, added by the javascript itself.

This fairly long and convoluted process is faster, easier, and probably strains the server less(although, it would be putting all of it into a far shorter ammount of time...) than manually quoting each post to get the code of it, and this works on locked topics, too, because locked topics only prevent you from posting in them, or getting convenient quote links generated automatically.

Finally, you need the ability to read the section of the forum in the first place, but it can be used *anywhere* that you can read.

(Edit: In samples, /spoiler ended the spoiler, *even though it was within code tags*)
